GOT the swirling removed!

so got tired of seeing how badly the lame lot boys treat the cars at the dealerships...so i found a fantastic local detailer who applied a cut polish to get rid of that swirly action. car looks great and the paint is soo soo smoooth.. i feel like i wanna hump it now! both pipes!

BEFORE in the sun..(note the swirly action resulting in crap reflections!)

AFTER (they did a great job..took them 6-7hours!)

Wow. At first when I glanced at the first pic, I thought that was your car AFTER, and I thought "Man, I would hate to see what it looked like before...."

Looks great man! You know what the stuff he used is called??

Nice, Now you should definitely practice better car washing/waxing techniques to prevent more swirls in the future.

When I take my car to the dealer for service they hand wash and vacuum it. They do an excellent job. I also wash and wax it frequently. Happy to say-no swirls. Get alot of compliments on how nice and clean it looks. It is a 06 MR tsx, bought new 11/17/06. It has almost 54,000 miles and is garage kept.

Your common sense will tell you not to follow this advice.

what advice is that. I use either meguiars or mother's instant detailer-not a complete wax job. I do alot of highway driving. It works for me-maybe not for you.

Must be nice to live in an area with out water restrictions.
When we were under heavy restrictions I would have to pack a bucket and other tools to bring up to a do-it-yourself car wash and pay $5 to wash my car.

But when I would go in for a service I would let the dealer wash the car. I couldn't be more satisfied, besides, it's only once every 5k miles.

Now that restrictions have been relaxed, I prefer to wash it myself (at home).

If/when they hit us with restrictions again, I won't hesitate to let the dealer wash my car.

Have you had any rain lately. We have not-it seems to be all around us but not here in Hampstead. we are on voluntary restrictions so I turned off the irigation systems and go to a hand wash car wash.
My dealer (Lehigh Valley Acura) does an excellent job washing my car-no complaints. It helps that my good friend is the service manager.

Not since last Wednesday. Maybe this weekend
I've got a feeling that mandatory restrictions will hit again soon. Glad I waxed my car last weekend.

Hendrick Acura is terrific. I think they take the same care in each "free car wash" as they do with their delivery detail...if that makes sense

Lehigh Valley Acura does the same thing so I do understand.
It is supposed to rain here this weekend. The last rain (did not amount to very much) was last Sunday.
When we were in Charlotte we have eaten at the Brazilian Restaurant-expensive but very good.

It's called a buffer and whatever polishing compound they happen to use. Honestly the buffer and sock you use makes a bigger difference than the compound.

I would say this is not a task your average amateur should take on. For one a decent buffer is at least $150. More importantly, you can fairly easily screw it up to the point where you need to get you car repainted. It's not something you should have or want to do very frequently as it removes a thin layer of the clear coat each time. For $100 to $200 you can take it to a detail shop and have them do it right every couple years.

wow what happened to make it so bad?!

Remember avoid all car washes except touchless...and make sure you use clean towels and what not when washing

LOOKS AMAZING AFTER! Well worth the fix!

My car is in about the same condition as his before shots. Winter and outside parking take their toll. I plan on getting it buffed at some point this summer when I can find the time. I'm on the fence about just buying a buffer, since I do know what I'm doing with it. It's still a lot of work and it's not like I'm going to be using any more than once a year at absolute most.

hey guys..thanks for the comments.

I didn't trust myself with a buffer yet.. but i will be experimenting with one on my wife's
black 06 civic lol!!!

anyways, i'm not sure what product he uses but he knows his stuff. he's buffed otu alot of miscellaneous marks in my previous vehicles flawlessly.

As for how the car got that way? let's just say it sat at the dealer lot for many months
and so these half-assed lot boyz did a pisspoor job in cleaning the cars!
I coulda complained i suppose but I wanted to get it done right.

It cost me $160cdn...*that was a 'personal' discount as I've dealt with the guy so many times with my previous ACURAs*. He normally charges $200cdn.

Where abouts in BC are you Acura604? I'm over in the Kootenays and I work at a detail shop. You say it took them 6-7 hours to polish your TSX? Its taken me 2.5 hours at the most, and that was to take deep scratches out of an older black Lexus RX300. Went over it completely with 4 different compounds and pads, and finished with a good wax.

Either way $160 is a good deal for that much work! It looks way better now. For an '08, yours had quite a few swirl marks.

yup..it's an 08. it sat at the dealer lot for quite some time.. and i guess whenever
it got dirty, the lot boyz would do their crap clean up job.

i'm in vancouver b.c. he basically did a cutpolish, wax, sealant.

Your guy did a great job. My car is starting to look like your before picture. I've been on the fence about a polisher myself. This time around I'll take it to a professional detailer.
