I have a leased TSX and i was curious, if i buy all the wiring and make everything oem and instal myself, will that affect my lease at all/warantee and are there step by step instructions anywhere?

^^ um...i think so......I don't know how a dealer would look at your non-navi going back in as a navi....

Im sure they wouldnt really cry about it being that they could sell the car on the used lot for about $1500 more now

IMO, it wouldn't be worth all the trouble for a lease. Go aftermarket navi instead. That way, you can easily take the navi with you when you return the car.

I am extremely interested in the other set you have!!

Been looking locally for parts but can't find none, GOOD JOB MAN!

Your other set, it contains basically everything you would need to set this up? What if i wanted to also have the handsfree controls, can i simply get those from the dealer etc?

PM, sent. Thanks

VSS, ACC, +B, CAN H, CAN L, Back up switch, and dash light are the additional wiring which you have to find in your car and connect them to your navi display and dvd unit. other wires are just some signal goes from the display to the dvd unit.

So are these wires all on a single connector on the Navi display unit? So basicially, there are two new plugs (aside from the existing HVAC/stereo plugs), one that goes to the DVD unit, which I think you can just match the color of the wires on both sides, and the other plug contains the VSS, ACC, +B, etc wires?

Can you tell us where to tap into those wires?

Great job, btw!

what year is your tsx? if you have 04 TSX then you only need the navi version homelink, handsfree controls and the harness (only $10) to do the handsfree control install. but if your TSX is 05 then you have to pay about 300+ for just to do the handsfree control install.

The ACC and +B go to display and dvd unit. VSS, CAN H and CAN L go to the DVD unit. there's two connectors that you need to added behind the display unit (one for display and one for audio unit). there are 4 connectors that you need to added hehind the dvd unit.

ACC is located at under dash fuse box (N36)
+B is located at left side of dash (below the sunroof and VSA switch)
CAN H and L are located behind the glove box. but that connector is missed for non-navi TSX so i took those signal behind the gauge control module.

1) Someone should create a DETAILED writed up with Step by step instructions

2) I think we should find out how others can reproduce this more easily especially creating a package to buy for example all the Wires needed and etc.

So all one has to do is buy a navi unit.

Nice job on the installation. You are one of the few pioneers and you are giving a lot more of us hopes that we can do the same. It doesn't seem nearly as intimidating as it did before your post.

Soon as I figure out an organized way to ask some questions, I will start asking. May have to scan a picture to show you what I am talking about.

Thanks for the info, it's a little more complex than I thought, but I guess still manageable. So when are you going to take a trip to the East Coast? I'll hire you for 2 days to do the conversion for me

Joking aside, I noticed that you didn't get a new clock/temp display unit. Any problems with that? or you rely on the Navi display for that information?

i did get the sub-display unit for navi model. you need to enter the CD player code in that sub-display. with the sub-display, you can still control the climate and audio without using the navi LCD.

i was thinking to do the DETAILED writed up before i started to install. but when i started to do the install, i realized i need more time to focus on what i was doing. any mistake of wireing is unacceptable because it would be very hard to troubleshoot the problem in a non-navi tsx.

its alright but to help the other members, how about a more detailed parts list?

Please add to this and clarify and elaborate if you wish

Navigation (39540-SEC-A01)
H-VAC display unit (tv)
Navigation Dvd (39010-SDA-A41)
Sub clock display unit (39710-SEC-A51)
Sub wire, cable reel harness (behind airbag) (77901-SDA-A40)
GPS antenna (39835-SEC-A01)
Homelink buttons (navi edition includes a mic) (34404-SDA-A21)
Switch assy., Navigation Guide (35890-SEC-A01)
Case (3A) for switch assy (35891-SEC-A01)
Plate switch set (78517-SDN-A81)
2x Screw-washer (4X12) (93893-04012-07)
2x Screw-washer (4X12 ) (93893-04012-17)

Some clarification on

1) Size 22 wire

2) CAN H and CAN etc wires is this part of the pigtail wiring you luckily got?

Must . . . resist . . . buying . . . navi unit . . . and . . . installing myself. I'd love to have the factory nav, especially in the sub-$1000 range. Maybe one of these days, while I still have a third car.

Sorry, I sold the navi unit. thx
For those who wants to buy the used oem navi system, you MUST find the system which also come with all the connectors. This will make your conversion much much easy

Great Job!!! I would do it if I didn't get nav from the getgo. You're the second to document it here. Your trade in value also went up. Gotta love that part! Congrats! now get Doms nav to vid conversion unit

How difficult do you think it would be to upgrade a 2004 Nav to 2006 Nav?

I hear the 2006 Nav is faster and has Zaggat. Would this be a easy upgrade?

I asked the dealer but they didn't know.

You just need to buy the 06 navi dvd unit and then replace with your 05 unit.

do you mean voice command? I didn;t add it cause i don;t want to spend extra $300 for those parts. IMO, it's worthless without bluetooth functions like 06 tsx

The only difference between 04 and 05 is the XM. So if 05 has no problem them 04 should be the same. You should not have any problem.

Worthless to some, but it was a big reason I bought it. Passenger temperature 73 degrees, she replies, passenger temperature 73 degrees... And she doesn't complain about it

You may not need the service manual but i highly recommended to buy the electrical manual. You need it for making the harness with your oem connector.

I forgot to add that the steering wheel controls come with the "back" button which comes in handy. I know there is one on the HU, but the one on the steering wheel is way faster.
