Finally DONE Navi conversion
Hello everyone
I have been thinking about this conversion for a looong time. From the time i started finding parts on junk yard and ebay and understanding the electrical and service manual totally took me 5 months. Finally got some times and decided to do the install. I spend 3 days to finish this conversion. This conversion was that hard but takes lot of time for wireing. here's some pics for the install.
^ My non-navi TSX.
^ I won;t be able to finish this conversion with those two.
^ Here's the SH wire and some 22 awg wire.
^ Remove the head unit
^ Remove the glove box
^ Remove the rear seat
^ Remove door sill trim
^ pig tail with all the layer.
^ Rear shelf removed
^ I started from the ACC. taking the ACC from N36 under dash fuse
^ DVD unit
^ wire from the display to dvd unit
^testing before install all the interior trim back.
^ The hot tears welled up in my eyes when this shows on the LCD
^ Got all the wire and make them clean to ordered
^ I just cut a small hole in the center upper pocket
^ I also installed the USA spec for the ipod
^ driving on the road
here's another link with more install details inside
http://www.wretch.cc/album/album.php...ronchc&book=12
I also got another set TSX navi system for sale (navi display, dvd unit, navi dvd 3.30 version, all the pig tail plugs and it comes with radio and navi code). pm me if you are interested
Make sure you know what you are doing. there's no return once you started this conversion.
Feel Free to ask any question.

That's great man! Awesome job and pics. Doesn't look very hard actually since you bought the OEM wire harnesses. The other navi conversion I saw, the guy made his own wiring and shielding. Congrats and way to go!

i didn;t install the hands free voice command. because there;s some different between 04 and 05 tsx in the cable reel harness (behind airbag). for 04 you can just pay $10 for the cable reel harness, but for 05 your have to paid around 150 because they sell the cable reel harness with audio remote as a set. you also have to pay $200 just for the homelink system. i don;t think i would use those function every often so i didn;t spend extra $300 for those parts.

I didn;t bought the OEM wire harnesses. i would like to but can;t find them for cheap. I have to do make my own wire harness by using those pig tail OEM connectors. THose shielded wires that i bought from local electronic shop does really save me some time and only cost me around CAD $40.

Oh I see, you bought the pig tail OEM connectors. How did you get them and how much?
Also, about how many extra wires are necessary to run yourself. What are the major things you need to run additional wiring too. Like you need to run it to the DVD rom, run the navi antenna, extra power/illumination/etc for the navi screen, insert VSS wire. What are some of the other major components that you need to run new wiring to?
The install looks very clean and neat

VSS, ACC, +B, CAN H, CAN L, Back up switch, and dash light are the additional wiring which you have to find in your car and connect them to your navi display and dvd unit. other wires are just some signal goes from the display to the dvd unit.

Nice. The CAN H, CAN L, and additional wiring from the display to DVD rom are the only extra ones that you don't install when going with aftermarket navi.
If my system wasn't finished, I'd definitely go this route. Thanks for the info!

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but can anyone tell me how to pop out that center cd/storage bin (under the factory radio) without dismantling the whole dash board?
Everywhere I search, people say its easy to remove, but I can't find anything that says how they removed it. I recently got my USA Spec and want to install it sometime soon.

What are the CAN L and CAN H used for?
Are these referring to a completely new harness or to just two different signals?
I noticed this pic of the speedometer. So does the CAN L and CAN H run to the screen or DVD rom?

And you got some great pics in your album too. Great job and writeup

CAN H and CAN L are the communication signal. they send the fuel pulses info to the trip computer in oem navi. Yes, they run to the DVD rom.
