Euro Accord Reverse Lights

While I Scotland last week I noticed something odd about euro accords. The right reverse light lenses are cleared while the left are fogged. Anyone notice this before? Anyone know why?

Because the Accord Euro R in "Europe" comes with an optional rear fog lamp that the US CL9 didn't not receive.

How exactly does it work? What does it do?

FYI, technically these are not "Euro R" models. For example one of them is a diesel.

Its typical with euro cars that when you activate the foglamps, 1 bright red light comes on in the back to 'alert' drivers coming up on you that you're there. (ie: a visual aid in heavy fog).

This is standard on many euro cars that are imported in America too, but its regulation in many places in Europe. Just like the US TSX doesn't have DRLs, but Canuck ones do.

My Benz E320 had this. I thought it was annoying more than helpful. I still hate it when I see it on a car ahead of me.

One more thing, if the car is equipped with only one rear foglight, it is always on the driver side. In this case, Scotland is RHD therefore the rear foglight is on the right.

Sounds like the foul-weather lamps used on race cars.
