Dropped flush

Just checkin in with some recent additions. I always said suspension would be one of the last things I did, but I had to bump it up the ladder since I had a chance to score some sweet parts secondhand.

Without further ado, Tein Flex, dropped till the bottom of the outside fender is flush to the top of wheel. It took me 3 different adjustment sessions to get them all perfect! Adjusted and aligned with an Ingalls kit. I'm riding at 6 clicks front, 8 rear, and seriously thinking of an edfc sometime soon. Shazzam!

Something else fun and new is hiding in there too...

Looks nice Reach

How is the ride with the Flex?
Is it a lot stiffer than before?
It's the ride noticeably more rough than stock?

Damn you Mike! I always wanted to have like a Twin in my area, but you're moving too fast... I have a few things up my sleeve and in my basement as well. Secret secret, cough cough, hint hint. I'm gonna be looking forward for summer 2007.

Indeed. Yes, its a lot stiffer, but it has done wonders to nearly elimnate body roll and decrease understeer. I initially started off my dampening at 3 clicks from hardest, front and rear, but that was too stiff for me to use all the time. Where it is now is much nicer, but not nearly stock. I would say these aren't for the feignt of heart, and I was surprised how much stiffness they can offer. However, after softening them up a bit and getting used to a dropped ride, I don't want to go back.

Also regarding ride, one of the reasons I jumped at these was edfc compatibility (actually its the only tein for the tsx that can use the edfc). I intend to get one at some point so I can easily adjust dampening. I also like that it offers 3 preset settings, so I can program full soft for girlfriend / family riding, my 'usual' setting, and a full stiff ok-try-and-race-me setting.

Looks good. Perfect drop imo. Nice and tidy You may have to upgrade your tires now to reap the full benefit.

Hey Reach, you got alot of upgrade this year huh? Pulleys and TEIN.

Since I noticed you also got Cusco Lower Arm Brace II in your sig, one quick question. Did you feel your car being toooo stiff going thru bumpy road??? I have my Cusco installed for a long while, and while the car was stiff, I can still live w/ it with the stock suspension. In Oct, I installed the TEIN Basic, after that I found my car is extremely stiff, and going thru bumpy road, or on and off "non-flat" entrance/exit is a bitch. I'm planning to remove my Cusco Lower Arm Brace II if I can't find any solution.

I've had the cusco brace on and off a few times now. Frankly, even before the Flex, I didn't feel any difference with it on vs. off. I haven't had it off since the Flex, its sitting next to me right now lol.

The stiffness is due to your suspension, not the brace. Go ahead and remove it and run without it for a while, I highly doubt you'll notice a difference. If the stiffness is a problem, I suggest upgrading to the Flexs. As I said before, these were the only ones I was interested in due to their ease of adjusting dampening, height, etc.

Any DC area person will understand that I have to drive I-66 around here, which doesn't qualify as a road so much as whack-a-mole with your tires.

Regarding the type II brace, I consider it a dress-up piece more than a performance piece, just like the fstb. Once I'm done under the car I'll put it back on, but until then, I just keep having to remove it every time I'm modding under there, its always in the way.

And on another note, in 2 weeks my car turns 1 year old (since my purchase). Its been really good to me, logging over 17k miles with me and not having a single maintenance issue. I just try to be good to it in exchange. I can't wait to see what more I can do with her in another year.

OEMs are a lot worse than that after you wash the car.

re: rotor rust, those pics were taken after a night of heavy rain. you can see the ground is still wet in those pics even though its late afternoon. All rotors rust with water on them. Drive for 5 minutes and use them, and they're as clean as new.

If only it hadn't just snowed all over the place here, I'd be washing and waxing for some nice photos, but sadly everything is just a layer of salt now. I am officially looking forward to spring .
