Car #2 is German!

Sup guys...

Made a new purchase yesterday and hooked myself up with a 2007 Mercedes C230. I couldn't bare to part with my TSX so I kept it. Crazy, I know but I love variety! Having owned another C230 (now for my lil bro), I was pretty much aware of what I was buying, but I must say that MB has done some serious revamping since 2005. Here are some quick thoughts when I compared the C230 to the TSX...

The C230's 2.5L V6 is quite powerful, but it has a slight bit of lag time from initial acceleration. Also, the gearshifts are much smoother than the TSX's and has 7 gears to choose from.

The TSX's leather is superior to the C230's man-made pleather.

The TSX's stereo kicks @$$ against the C230.

The C230 has more curb/sex appeal than the TSX. This is very subjective, but in Miami, it is a given.

I really like the Dark Bird's Eye wood look inside vs. the metallic trim in the TSX.

Interior sound levels in the C230 are better than the TSX, but not totally great.

The TSX's steering wheel audio controls have a faster response time as well as overall usability than the C230's.

The C230 has no folding rear seats.

The C230 has a much sexier key than the TSX (even though I have the TL switchblade mod).

Well that's about it. All in all, I love them both! Hopefully, I won't have as many little annoying problems with the C230 as I did with the TSX (i.e. squeaky seats, replaced sunroof, dreadful Bluetooth static).

Enjoy the pics and feel free to comment!

If I had pixie sticks for legs I might just make it in the back seat!

Looks good on the outside, too cramped inside. The TSX is a Suburban inside compared to the C230

nice buy. how do the two vehicles compare from a performance standpoint (handling, acceleration, braking, etc)?

the MB interior looks very old and outdated. The seatbacks look weird and busy.
I like the red color tho. For the most part i like black interiors. Id take the TSX w/ nav, besides the new C-class is coming out soon.

I looked at the MB when buying my TSX. The only thing I liked was the staggered wheels that come factory.

Well as you probably know, the C230 is RWD. From a performance point of view, the C230 is a lot more stable and predictable in lane changes and brisk accelaration (no torque steer). The C230 is relativly sluggish from a standpoint, but once it is up and going, the seamless shifting of the 7-speed is a pleasure sound to the ears and it fully utilizes the 200 horses served up by the 2.5. The exhaust rumble is pretty deep and so are the engine sounds - basically more gutsy than the TSX. The breaking is also very strong (one of the weaker points on the TSX). All in all, the TSX begs you to throw it around more while the C230 is more of a luxury wide with the ability to be thrown around.

That model began in 2002. This model of the C230 began in 2001. So who would be copying whom?

Ok, I stand corrected. However, I am not a "status symbol" kind of person trying to brag. This is only my second Benz while I have had 3 previous Honda products. The thread is simply an FYI comparison...

My friend has a C240 with the sport package. Overall, its a very nice car. We took it around some twisties and the sport package does wonders for that car. It had very little body roll compared to my stock TSX suspension. However, the leather felt cheap and the sound system, though powerful did not sound as clear as my stock TSX setup. Overall, nice car. I'd just never spend the money on one.

Yea... Well I prefer to purchase items that are reliable and have potentially good resale values if necessary ... i.e. Honda & Mercedes products.

Not a big fan of first-year-of-production cars - too many bugs! I do like the new C300, but imma hold on to the '07 until '09.
