Back up Cam/S2k Tip/Headlight Tint

hey guys i just got my back up camera installed today. bought a pioneer nd bc2 off ebay for about $170. the installation was pretty simple. i had/have no experience whatsoever about wiring and what not and just read and completed it with no problems. great mod i love it. someone on the board also wanted a side and under pic of how the s2k ap2 exhaust tips look. i also tinted the orange blinker area of my headlight and it looks awesome.

just hope no fag would come and decide that its fun to steal or pull of the camera

Have fun watching that picture move sideways as you back up straight! Word to the wise: mount your backup cam straight / flush with the car people, they give them a wide angle lens for a reason!

Looks great!. One question (to lazy to search) is the tint on the outside or inside? I.e did you have to crack open the head light?

Again, VERY nice looking TSX!!

the tint goes on the outside. very easy install took no more than 10 minutes. you don't have to crack open your headlights

Cool thanks, looks like I may have to do this...I'm just going to try the side markers though, if I can cut it right that is. Did you notice any change in the light output covering all of it?

the tint does not cover the whole headlight. the tint is already pre-cut to only cover the side markers.

i got them off ganley honda. i believe their site is ganleyhonda.com but not so sure. look under the s2000 honda parts and go to the exhaust finish tips and they are for the 04+.

I will soon post a thread about it .

He is also a member here a-zine, but works as a moderator at the "other club"

no idea what percent it is. it didn't say it was just a tint for the acura tsx. turned out great. first saw it on jaeshims car and immediately put in an order for it.

LOL, tried it yesterday with the 35% window tint you get at AutoZone. Smoothed out great, and looked really cool. until I tried to trim it up. Even with a new exacto knife, this stuff would stretch LONG before slicing neatly. So needless to say, I gave up. Think I'll just order it like you did.

Thanks for all the info,
Ken

haha yeah the material doesn't seem like it would cut nicely with an exacto knife. it would prob cut perfectly if you used scissors though

Hehe, tried that too. My hands are not as steady as they used to be. I have a tint shop here in town, I'll see what he can do. I was thinking about the rear also, but I'd like to keep the back-up lights clear, and THAT would require an even more steady hand....I go back to work in the morning ( been on vacation) and NOW I think of things to do,lol.

thanks a lot ching make me spend an extra $20

haha its okay i didn't want the tint to cover the WHOLE headlight anyways. and its "light smoke" so its not going to darken the orange side marker too much. mine ONLY covers the orange side marker area and is VERY DARK, but not too dark where its black. its just perfect. HURRY UP AND GET BACK FROM TAIWAN so we can have another meet. oh yeah ching btw do you want to get a back up camera? if so let me know so i can tell you what to order and i can help you install it.

Ok liquidgn3ration, here is my attempt. It will do for now, but I just realized I have a sign shop that specializes in window and automotive design. We use them where I work, and they can measure up and "lazer" cut to fit. So I'm not even going to attempt the rear, I'm gonna let them do it. I did talk to the tint guy this morning, he didn't even want to attempt it. Anyway here it is. Up close you can see the line, but if you are just walking by or just standing up it's hard to notice the "I can't cut straight to save my life" lines. But it will do for $11.00. hehe.

Just for giggles and grins, here's my favorite interior shot...

What do you think?

Oh, and thanks for the idea.

Ken.

Thanks man. I didn't even realize the calipers got into the shot, lol. The same shop that made the caliper decals is where I'm going to see if they can do the tint on the back. I hope they can do it well enough to keep the circle reverse lights open. The tint is 35%, but I used the flash so it seems a littler lighter than it is.

liquidgn3ration, Just tried the side mirrior blinker tint for the heck of it

Got to love weekends. I think these will most likely come off with a good wash (I hope not), but if they do I'll go with RockBlocker. This was just to give me an idea of what it would look like.

off

on

passenger side off

I'll try to get some night shots this evening.

So is the camera just stuck on with tape or glue, or is it mounted?

the camera is on a mount and on the mount is a very strong sticky glue prob like the same one used on the badging of cars and its stuck onto the top of my trunk. it holds pretty good. but not good enough for to stop someone from plucking it off.
