WTF! Injen CAI self install

!@##@!$$!@#!#

Okay, what size ratchet did you guys use to get to that damn resonater bolt in the front?

I'm doing the install through the fender (no bumper removal) and I can't even get close to that bolt!

Anyone know how to remove a foglight?

Okay, but obviously it was done without removing the bumper and I don't think I want to mess with all those plastic clips and weilding a big ass piece of plastic.

I just need to get to that damn bolt and it's all good, but how?!

If you have the car jacked up, you can lay on your back and look up through the bumper and get to the bolt pretty easily.

The socket size is the same as all the rest of the bolts. There's not alot of room to swing the rachet so you just need some patients.

I wrote a pretty snazzy write up of the DIY install with a ton of pictures here https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19067

Hope any of that helps.

Okay, I think the problem is that the fender method may not be so great if you have the foglights installed because the lamp unit is blocking the way to the bolt.

Yeah Wolf, I printed out your great post and everything. But you didn't have fog lights installed at the time I think?

Yeah, fogs will definately be a bitch to get around. I'm not sure about the depth of them but it seems like you would just be able to unscrew them and pull them out enough to get them out of the way. Good luck with your install!

HA HA VICTORY IS MINE!

Okay so I didn't have to pull of the front bumper. Instead all you really need to do is pry it open a little bit along with moving the fender splash guard out of the way.

The fender only method isn't going to cut it if you've got OEM fog lights.

So now I'm off to finally install the beeatch.

I am correct that I'm supposed to completely remove the resonator the intake pipe thingy?

congrats. I had a pita problem with that bolt too. I went through the fenderwell and removed the bottom guard on my bumper. I had to reach in there and twist like 1/4 thread for 30 min straight then it came off. But it feels so good after you get that over with. What's harder is the SS install. Removing the center console is a bitch. You feel like it's going to break, but you have to use a lot of force.

Ahhhhhh. OMG.

I'm now missing the 11" - 15mm hose. Damnit.

Can I get that at a local auto store?

installed.

The Injen Install Mess

Five hours later (due to a missing hose, OEM fog lights. and chatty neighbors)

For now I suppose the ghetto style will have to do until I can get the appropriate hose.

I took her out for a spin after doing my best to double check the fastenings and air leaks. Cruised around for a few minutes letting things adjust and whatnot. Then I started some high rpm runs. I was like WHOA. All of a sudden my car sounded like it had a BadMotherF****er wallet in its pocket. I can even hear the roar over the radio, impressive. And I like how it only gets mean when it's supposed to be, at WOT. Civilised the rest of the time. Excellent!

A few questions though-

Will the idle remain a little rough (as compared to stock)?

Was that stock air filter that I removed used for the AC and stuff? If so should I expect any issues with using my AC?

How do I get my car to move like it sounds now?

Oh, and thanks to the forum for the recommended mod and all the helpful hints!

jack stands, got it, okay.

But I wasn't entirely unsafe nor under the car all that long. I did at least put the wheel under the car in case of bad things.

but back to the questions before the thread got jacked,

Will the idle remain a little rough (as compared to stock)?

Was that stock air filter that I removed used for the AC and stuff? If so should I expect any issues with using my AC?

Thanks joerockt!

I can't stop driving my car now. Before was bad but now with this, a rear sway bar coming, an aspec suspension and maybe a hondata reflash and headers I'm gonna go broke on gas!

Nah, you should be good to go. The install is ridiculously easy especially with all the helpful tips from the folks on this board! And this was my FIRST EVER mod!

If you've got OEM fogs though, you'll have to pry the bumper (just the left side) open a bit to get to that one resonator bolt. Actually, a combination of the fender and bumper method would make this a super quick and easy task.

your idle should not change, maybe its in your head, or check for something loose.
