Cool Wish I was as fast as an EVO....

I drove an Evo MR yesterday for fun. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It looks cheap, but has nice mods off the assembly line from Brembo, BBS, Recaro, Momo, etc. It kind of takes the fun out of doing the mods, but the end result is one fast ( and not terribly unactractive) machine. Its performance kills the STi and it is noticeably faster than the G35 and almost everything else on the street.

I read the specs on the car and there were some surprising similarities to the TSX. Besides having AWD, it is slightly heavier than the TSX (less than 100 Lbs.), almost the same height, lenghth, etc. The gearing in the 6 speed transmission is very close to that of the TSX 6MT. Of course, it is very plain inside an out, as it is a heavily modded Lancer. You can't even get cruise control as an option.

The 2.0L engine (turbocharged) that makes the EVO scream down the road (1/2 second slower than the new Z06 in the quarter mile is fast).

I want the best of both worlds, the looks and comforts of the TSX, and the stffness and balls-out speed of the EVO. I want my car to pull like the EVO in every gear, and have that zero body-roll and near-perfect handling. Maybe I need to call HKS and Dazz Motorsports.....I need an Acura TSX TT. Do you guys think the production turbos being developed for the TSX will be able to compete with the EVO? I would never ask for anything again. Except SH-AWD.

Ummm, no. Pick up a copy of this month's Car and Driver. They do a comparison of the Evo MR and STi. Very similar, performance-wise.

I've driven both, seen the article. This is my opinion, but the EVO handles better, feels more balanced, and seems hold the curves a little tighter. I was more confident in the EVO. Although they are both good cars, I would choose the EVO over the STi. My .

My main point here was to say I would really like that feel in my TSX, and would like to know how close we could get in terms of acceleration and handling with modifications, keeping in mind we are working with FWD not AWD.

If you read the article after test the STi was actually quicker than the MR on another track they tested on. The first track suited the EVO more than the STi, but the EVO still has the handling advanatage apparently.

In another mag (can't remember which) the MR was actually putting down more to the wheels than the STi and the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times favored the EVO.

I'd take either as a weekend toy.
