Will this void my warranty?

Hey everyone,

...Been searching the forums but cant find the answer and just a simple reply from someone will be great.

I added a K&N Air filter to my car, and I dont want them to replace it when I get my oil changed so I put the little sticker on the filter box that says leave it alone, but will that affect my warranty?

I am about to take it in for its first oil change, and I just want to know if they will say anything to me about it.

Thanks kids.

Unless this "filter" contributes to a component failure, and they prove it, they can't void your warranty.

when i got my 40K they took out my K&N air filter and replaced it with a clean OEM one. For now I need to clean the K&N one out myself and put it back.

Last service I told them ahead of time not to change the filter (I have K&N). I noticed that, when I go to the parts counter to pay for the service, they have K&N filters on display.

The sticker basically says there is a modified part there so dont take it out. So I just need to tell the service guy not to change the filter and it wont be a problem?

When you book your car in, tell them you have an aftermarket filter and you don't want it to be replaced. That's what I do.

They have to prove that the filter caused the engine failure. If they can't then you still have your warranty.

Correct.

If you can get the service advisor to write on the service order that you have a K&N filter then it would be better. Otherwise the service order will just say that the customer requested that the filter not be changed without any explanation as to why. That could be misinterpreted in the future as you not changing the filter at all, which would be incorrect.
