Red face WHO IN THE RIGHT MIND SAID "INJEN doesn't improve performance"

Before I begin my tsx is manual
I think I read a post not too long ago about 2 TSX's racing

one with Injen intake and the other one stock and how he was sayin that stockone was faster that the one with the Injen intake... Yeah fucking ... put it next to my tsx and I'll believe YOU

well ONE thing for sure this intake is a great mod for the TSX.

ONE thing looks great under hood... it sound completely STOCK until you hit the pedal ... pass 5500 to 6000 it gets really loud maybe too loud but I LOVE IT. ALSO no humming noise of anything when you start the engine... again sound STOCK...

I REALLY FELT after the install my car pulls so much nicer ... it definitely did make me feel an improvement the pant to seat field

any comments are welcome

I don't know if it makes the car significantly faster. But, it does make it more fun to drive.

I think this comment is along the same lines as the transition from a nice smoth iVTEC versus the old "kick in the pants" VTEC. One is more fun to drive than the other.

from 3-5k it makes a significant increase in torque(~ 5-6%) and again a few lbft over 6k. The only place it loses power is about 5lbft from 2500-3000 rpms.

Here's a question for you CAI owners: Do you have to remove the bumper to service the air filter? I know you can clean and re-oil the filter element but I don't want to have to remove my bumper every year to do this.

The answer is a big NO. You can easily access the filter area throught the wheel well liner. In fact, you can install the CAI through there as well.

you can find the K&N for ~$180, I doubt any group buy is going to be better than that

Can't remeber the thread but the K&N has the filter protector or something over it. It offers better protection than the Injen, I think. I'll go find the thread.

A T.O group buy would be nice.

http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...=K%26N+Typhoon

There's the thread. The K&N comes with the dry charger to help protect against water. The gains are the same, price is the same, so if the Typhoon has the dry charger I think its the better choice

I'll start looking for a dealer.

How do you know the results are the same. Is there a dyno chart somewhere?

Yes there was a dyno somewhere, Try a search :P

I'm pretty sure both were an added 12HP.

There's the dyno from the K&N webpage. Actually only a 9.7HP increase on a 6 speed.

Here's the K&N webpage link with Typhoon info for the TSX.

They should be nearly identical. There's hardly anything different about them. Most of the performance is going to come from removing the restrictive resonator and adding a high-flow filter (Injen uses K&N anyways).

Hey group,

I build chassis roll cages, etc... One of my wholesale suppliers carries K&N. If there is enough interest I can see what kind of deal I can get on buying several , (10-20 typhoon kits). Let me know here, or you can E-mail me.

silvertsx@earthlink.net

Thanks,

Daryl Catching

I originally bought an Injen polished but left it in the box. I wanted the K&N drycharger but its $25 seperately, so I sold my Injen and bought the K&N.

Got mine from Hop up racing . Took a really long time, 3 weeks, but it was mostly K&N's fault. Hopup just sends an order to the K&N warehouse and I guess they were out of stock. The invoice left in my box says the CAI costs the dealer $160
