USDM Accord Key Mod - FLBusa (PICS INSIDE)

Okay, as all of you know, I was at one time helping do the USDM Accord Key mod for folks around here. Well, in a few short days, I'll be getting a milled USDM Accord key from FLBusa. Just like he is doing for the switchblade TL key for us, he has now created a milling program for the USDM Accord key.

What does this mean? Well, instead of having to rely on the epoxy bond between the "donor key" and the USDM Accord key's key bed, FLBusa is now milling the blank on the Accord key to match that of our stock keys. This is by far going to be the strongest, most reliable mod to have.

I'll see if I can get some pricing from him and if there is enough interest, then Pete may start doing this mod in addition to the TL switchblade.

The benefits I see in having this mod over the TL switchblade, the USDM Accord key is a little more compact that the TL switchblade.

FYI, I'm getting a TL key done along with my USDM Accord key, so I'll have both. I'm absolutely THRILLED with this. Can't wait to get the new keys cut

If you are asking, "do you loose memory seat function with a USDM Accord key", yes. If you asking, "can you get a TL MEM2 switchblade and it work", yes.

You'd have to ask FLBusa

There is already a switchblade mod thread as well as a thread in the Black Market section.

I'd like to keep this open only for the USDM Accord key mod since FLBusa's method is worthy of a new thread.

FLBusa manages it if you have him do the mod.

If you want you can PM FLBusa as he just did the milling for me and I think he has a few others on the TL side that want it in lieu of the TL switchblade. I wanted both b/c I obviously have the USDM Accord key already and want the switchblade... well, just because.

Having had both, side-by-side, I still like the Accord key better. Functionally, it is smaller and more practical.

I was also doing a side-by-side comparison and the TL keyfob is bigger and heavier than the Accord keyfob. However, I still want one just because. I might just grind the blade into a knife instead.

well he has a cnc machine milling it is my guess and that the shop is gonna charge you an arm and a leg to write the program to mill it not talking about the time it takes to mill the key too. my best bet is to go with fblusa becuase he is doing this in huge orders soo savings for you.

Just so i think i understand this correctly.....We can now get a USDM Accod Key milled for us without having to do that mod you did a DIY on a while back about the key conversion? I really liked that but didn't feel like spending the time on it at all. All we would have to do is maybe to the DIY you wrote on how to put the Acura "A" logo on the key after taking off the Honda "H" logo correct?

I did see the black market section for the TL switchblade key but there were a million people getting it done and i figured i'd wait til the line got smaller but this will work just as well!

Yeah, I talked to Pete (FLBusa) to see if he was interested in milling the USDM Accord key. Sounded like he was definitely willing to do it since he created the program for it. Actually liked it the finished product a lot. Just PM him and see what he is willing to do. I've found that the USDM Accord key is more expensive than the TL key for some strange reason.

As you know, I'm all about "doing things right". Given that fact, FLBusa has the best possible solution, so I am going to bow out on this one.

Wouldn't you still need to implant the chip inside the spare TSX key into the Accord key?

Not unless the locksmith or Acura programs it for you (~$40), otherwise, yes. If I did the mod for you, then you just reuse your chip from that key.

So if I wanted this key, i'd have to fix the honda symbol to an acura one on the other side.....is there someone that would do this for me AND mill it or is there instructions on how to do it yourself?

After it's milled, why would your acura dealer or a locksmith be able to program a honda chip and you would not be able to?

No, FLBusa just mills it. There are pics of what it takes to get the Acura logo in there. Basically, you just have to sand down the top and bottom to make the symbol fit into the Honda H space and use some sort of adhesive to keep it in there.

To get the symbols out, I used to use a sharp razor blade to pry them up. They are just held on with a very sticky double sided tape (very thin).

You need a HDS tablet to access the ECU to recognize the chip in the key. There is nothing we can do to make the ECU see the chip. The ONLY thing we can do is program the transmitter to work on the car. Instructions are all over the place here.

Has anyone here gotten the TL key done and programed?

We should start a list of who's gotten it done. I'm just curious to see cost wise anyway...

I got my 07 TL key cut & programmed. This thing is a beauty and everything works flawlessly. I got it cut and programmed at Marin Acura (Nor. CA)for $58.

I've been busy with my new son and haven't gotten it cut yet. It seems everytime I get a second to go get it cut, I forget my blank or my original. Either way, I have a family member that works at acura, so it won't be an issue anyway.

you can't PM until you get over 10 posts I think. At any rate, the info you are looking for can be found here.
