TSX and Accord K24 UR Pullies

Pullies are coming for the K24 (Honda 2.4 i VTEC engine) which is on the TSX as well. They (UR) said fully by October. How may people would be interested? Better yet, how many people would be interested in a group buy? Now this is kinda like a poll for the moment, but I need to get down an appoximate for the guy at Unorthodox Racing. Let me know and we can get things going.

Please post if you are interested or have questions pertaining to the K24.

Thanks.

I'd love to know what it includes, for example does it include the crank pulley, or just the alternator and accessories pulleys? If it's just that, it's a nice simple mod, but my experience with crank pulleys on f-series engines was that they destructed cranks after a few thousand miles because they (UR) did not retain the harmonic dampeners, and the vibrations were fatal to crankshafts. I would guess the proble could be even worse on K24 due to the higher displacement.

pulleys are interesting, but the bad stuff I hear about harmonic vibration would probably keep me away from them.

I had the complete UR set (crank, alternator & p/s) on my 00 v6 accord and they definitely made a difference. However, it was nearly $300 on a group buy. If the pricing is similar for the tsx, I don't think I will be getting them. It was a bitch to install and the recommended belt sizes were too big (squealing).

As for the harmonic vibrations, the v6 accord engine was internally balanced. I have also heard the horror stories, namely for maximas regarding the crankshaft shattering from the vibrations. I haven't heard anything yet as to how the tsx is setup, but I'd be 110% sure before installing the crank pulley.

Well if the problems from above were solved...then i would be interested....but if those problems are frequent then it something that i would have to think twice about

This is more than likely not going to ruin the K series engine.

between 3whp to an "advertised" 15 whp, that's just based on rsx k series underdrive pullies.

some of the v6 owners dynoed 20whp and 20lbs tq more with the complete UR build. Honestly speaking, I don't think I gained that much but I never dynoed my car.

Gains in hp and tq are done through weight reduction of the pullies much like the advantage of getting lighter wheels.

I never got my underdrive accessories pulley kit numbered on the dyno, but my butt feel was that the revs were just a wee tad bit happier than before. Of course, I don't know if the fact that I aready had a lightweight UR flywheel changed things a little or not.

Definitey though, the accessories pulley set, though not a big bang for the buck, is a nice little modification, because it is a very neutral mod; you don't sacrifice comfort, nor increase noise levels. So it's all gain, no pain, excpet for your pocket, since UR doesn't exactly give away their stuff.
