Thoughts on Shift Knobs
Thoughts on Shift Knobs
I kinda like the stock knob but the previous owner must have worn a ring on his right hand because the top of it is all scratched. From what I can find by searching the OEM knob is about $112 US. Anyone know where I can get it cheaper? Or suggest any other knobs besides the ones below?
MOMO Competition
MOMO ALUMINUM SPHERE
MOMO Race

I believe its leather. Ya its small but I kinda like the look and feel. Just wish it wasn't so expensive.

Its perfect. Great color shape and weight. I'll think I'll try and steal it next time I see him

Race seems like the best choice to me, and sphere isn't too bad, but it might not match the hue of the TSX's silver bits around the interior. The Competition knob is a little too blingy for an understated interior like the TSXs.

You can see them floating around for $40-45ish, check out Accord or RSX forums, they're often selling TSX knobs

You would think there be more floating around here though.

And I kinda want a new knob. The car needs something thats mine if you know what I mean.
Spoon Ti?? hahhaa...JDM baby
I've drove with the competition and Race before, and persoally, i think the Race is actually more comfortable. The competition looks nice though, i love the shape. But MOMO is famous for its sphere shapped knob and it's actually real comfortable, so i voted RACE!!

The S2K (one of them anyway) has the same knob, only the shift pattern is painted black instead of red. I recall at some point seeing them on clearance for a relatively good price on one of the Honda parts web sites, maybe handa-accessories, assume such a price would be available again at some point if you're not in a hurry.
I had the Momo Race Airleather (the exact one you picture, with the all-leather ball). I liked it a lot, felt good in my hand, but it was light-weight and, with the short shifter kit installed, I wanted a heavier knob. I also actually missed the smaller stock knob a little. So, I went with THIS SKUNK2 KNOB and I love it. It's about twice the weight of the stock knob, or about four times the weight of the Momo. It has a 6spd pattern engraved on top, and it's a dark gunmetal stainless steel that is very stealth against the dark grey of the center console, shift boot, etc. (my interior is Ebony). It reminds me of what I think Dan's knob (shift knob, that is) would look like if it were gunmetal. It gets a little cold in the winter, but I drive with driving gloves year-round so it doesn't bother me. When I have used it in winter without gloves, it warms up pretty quickly and stays warm long after the car's been turned off.
The "Skunk2" etched on the knob looks MUCH more prominent in the picture than in person. In person, it's very subtle. And it's threaded exactly for our shifter shaft and comes with a matching locknut (so no adapters, etc.). I'll take a photo tonight and post it if anyone wants me to.
HERE"S an ebay link to it.

I have a 6MT. You should post a link of the exact Momo knob for the 5AT in question and if someone here has installed it or is at least familiar with it you might get some feed back.
Yes! Please post pics!
Also, I think the stock knob is a little to low for my tastes, if it were maybe a centimeter higher or so it would be better. With this skunk2 knob, is it possible to adjust the height of it? Is it possible to have it higher than the stock knob or even lower if 1 desired?

I'll post pics shortly (wife's using the camera for birthday party). Bear in mind, in my pics the knob is very low. I didn't use the lock nut, the knob is secured by Loctite. I like 'em SHORT. The knob itself, however, is very similar in size to the stocker, maybe a little thicker and definitely heavier.

I just bought a T1R knob. Really like it since it sits much lower than the stock knob.
This has the nice effect of also shortening the shift throws without a short shift kit.
The burnt titanium effect is also very cool. Yes it is cold in the winter, but warms up quick!

For an Automatic? All I got was some small closed ended rubber caps, they didnt seem universal at all! I ended up returning it!
