Supercharger

Hey, I'm new to the forum, but figured I'd share some information. I emailed about an '05 TSX supercharger for a car with an Auto tranny and got the following reply:

"We do plan to release a TSX kit, but the automatic trans is a question mark for us at the moment...If you would, please check back in about 2 months. we plan to have some development for this application by then; so there should be some good information at that time.
Thanks for your interest. I hope you will stay tuned."

To which I responded:

"Thanks. Is the difficulty with the Auto trans just the addtional wear & tear on the tranny with 50-80 more HP? Or is it an on-board computer programming issue?"

"I know the TL had a bunch of problems with its auto transmission, so I am a bit hesitant to run TL-like power through the TSX tranny if it isn’t designed for it. If it’s an issue with whether or not the tranny can take it, perhaps it would work with a beefed up fluid torque converter?"

And he responded:

"The problem is that Hondata doesn't support 05 Auto TSX's. There is something about that year that's a problem... I don't know the specifics. I have talked to Level10 about auto trans mods for strength, and I'm confident we will offering a way to build the trans and make it stronger. We won't know how strong the tsx trans is until we break it. Time will tell. But if Hondata doesn't support it, then we need to do something on our own, and I'm not sure when we'll be able to do that. So, it's hard to say when we might have a complete system. I think Hondata is working on a k-pro, even for the 05. So, that would add about 1000 bucks to the price, but it would be available. And it would be amazing."

Just thought I would share that information. What is a K-pro? What do people think about the AT handling a stage 1 or 2 supercharger from ?

Yep, I'm guessing that it's RS. K-Pro is user programmable engine managment.

welcome to the forums.
Appreciate the info however thats kinda been known for a while now

Its basically a waiting game right now to see what happens with hondata and if RS gets the kit done for us. They are working on an RSX kit currently, then supposedly civic then the tsx.

Yeah, they have been delayed quite a few times now. It's been a good 3-4 months since they first said they would have the RSX kit finished. From last I heard they redesigned the RSX kit again, and they are hope to have the RSX kit finished and shipped by the end of May. I wouldn't hold your breath for the TSX kit quite yet though. I believe they need to completely finish the RSX kit and the big thing is they need to development the engine management. I'm thinking the TSX will eventually come, it will just take some time.

Even though they've told me they plan to have the TSX kit(s) ready by mid summer (read: June/July), I'm still reconsidering going with the Comptech kit. I probably won't want to go any higher than Stage 1 Red Shift kit anyway (too much stress on the stock tranny), so essentially both kits should produce identical gains. My biggest concern is the lack of a warranty on the Comptech kit ...

Well one good thing outta the deal is this, if they ever do make a kit, it'll be behind two other productions(rsx and civic) so any bugs/problems that arise could potentially be fixed by the time a tsx kit ismade.

Well for those 5AT TSX owners especially the 05's who are dying for the comptech supercharger, I should be selling mine very soon.

Question

bump

Just wondering, I went to the Comptech website and they seem to advertise only M/T superchargers. Do they make them for A/T cars, most notably the TSX? I just figured they didn't since it wasn't on the website.

thanks!

^^ I would call Comptech directly and ask them. They made an A/T for the TSX in the past.

You can always just buy an 04 ECU and put it in your 05. I've been sort of considering this myself.

Thats right. U see, there IS a reflash from Hondata for 06 AT TSX, but there is no supercharger available. The only TSX with AT that can be supercharger is 04 model or 05 with 04 ECU. Thats why I bought 04 ECU for $100 to keep SC as an option and and 05 AUTO reflash is coming soon.

After going on the CT-Engineering website it seems they do have an 06 AT supercharger kit. Price is a little over 4300. If you click on the link it gives some specs and says in bold "Application: 06 Acura TSX (Automatic Transmission Only)" Also if you go to Mr Heel toe it has more info regarding the kit. I believe he also has some sort of discount on stuff for the next couple of days. I am looking to get the kit for the auto 06 and with the discount it could make the price 3600.

No worries, that 06 AT kit must have JUST come out because it definitely didn't exist a few weeks ago...

Good news for all the 06 AT guys who don't want to spend the extra $$$ for K-Pro .

I would just see if you could buy the Comptech Supercharger without the reflash to bring costs down (probably about $600 or so) and then buy the Kpro and tune the Supercharger the right way!

I spoke to Nate and a few other guys at Comptech a whlie back when I was looking for my S/C and they won't sell just the kit without the reflash. Comptech pays Hondata a lump sum for a group of S/C reflashes prior to piecing together their supercharger kits so that the reflashes are already paid for before anything goes out the door.

However, with the release of K-Pro, it might be worth it to ask them again .
