I'm gonna assume they look the same as the other bars that spoon makes...they all look the same, in regards to style and width/ thickness.

hmm i think i would rather just shell out some extra and get the comptech based on looks. these strut bars dont really do that much for performance anyways. :P

Did anyone contact Opak Racing, they are the Sole Authorized Spoon Distributor for the US. I am sure if R&D have some coming, they will too. May be they will give us a better price on it too.

This thing is the same as the Neuspeed Strut Tower bar I assume, that goes over the stock front strut bar? Its JDM, but I'd definately have to try it out to see if its $100 better than my Neuspeed.

Get one first, you might be surprised how much you can feel after adding it. Balances out the too much oversteer from the CompTech rear sway nicely.

Strut/Sway/Tie bars all connect the wheels together. Stiffening the bars, connects the L and R sides together, and makes the side act more similar to each other

for example body roll occurs when one side of the car compresses more than another. adding a bar will stiffen the suspension, so one side can't compress more than the other.

the result of stiffening the suspension is that the wheels will break traction sooner when going around a turn. this might sound like you are worsening your handling, but that's not the case. As you can see in this pic of my car w/o any bars, the inside wheel is barely touching and all th weight is on the outside. One tire is doing no work at all, so the handling ability is 1/2 of the potential. A bar will keep the wheels on the ground

Rear causes oversteer
Front causes understeer

I would not suggest getting this Spoon bar unless you already have the CompTech rear sway, otherwise your car will plow like crazy through a turn.

While JDMness of the Spoon bar sounds cool, what I really want is a Mr. Alex rear strut tower bar.

Saw it listed on AJR a while ago link . I e-mailed them, but they had no idea when it'd ever be available. I've seen on RSXs they had to cut the carpet in their trunk to fit it, hopefully our application wouldn't be that bad.

Matching that rear strut w/ a Neuspeed Front Sway would be the most beutifully handling TSX ever.

*edit*

link this page says spoon has a real strut tower bar as well. I'd rather get a hold of that than this front one.

link this one mentions another one for the cl7 made by Vision?

thanks for the info, i sorta getting more on it, so ya...guess for the best control out of the car, "front + rear bars" is must-needed huh!

just checked out the Alex site, looks like that they are esp specialized in making suspension bars, are they good and reputable? (sorry, just havent heard about Alex before^^)
how come you didnt go for Alex rear/front strut tower bars?!

btw, u got your SSR comp yet?...cant wait to see the pics^^, those are super light!!!

ive driven a tsx with the neuspeed on. sure the initial response is there, but on hard turns i can't really feel it.

and also sure its jdm, but it doesnt look that hot. i am not a fan of the polished finish.

Well considering none of the Alex parts are in the US, there is no choice. I'd rather get Neuspeed stuff that I can have now, rather than wait for JDM stuff that might never come.

And I got my SSRs, but my cars been in the shop, 3 weeks now.

I thought the front bar really tightened up the steering response after adding the bar. And made the car more neutral after the CompTech made for some crazy oversteer. Not a huge impact, but a nice change in the ride, especially when the Neuspeed is $100.

I think you got that mixed up with the swaybar. A strut bar stiffens the chassis. It reduces chassis flex while the car is under cornering. Less chassis flex will allow the suspension to function what it is supposed to do. The benefit from the strut bar is very miniumal. OTOH, a swaybar will improve the handling of the car much more than a strut bar. A car with bigger swaybars will corner "flatter". A car with stiffer strut bars (and stock swaybars) will corner about the same as stock, therefore still has body roll. For FWD cars, the best way to improve cornering is increase the stiffness (either by larger diameter bars and/or solid bars rather than hollow bars) of the rear swaybar only. Add a stiffer swaybar in the front will be counter-productive because it adds the understeering characteristic back to the handling of the car. There have been numerous debates over in the H-T.com board regarding the use of rear swaybar only and the use of both front and rear swaybars. Most of the hard core road racers and auto-x'ers (including myself) would prefer having only a stiffer rear swaybar and leave the front swaybar alone. Some would actually remove the front swaybar to induce more oversteer.

Adding the strut bars isn't a bad thing, but just don't expect a "night and day" difference in handling after the installation.

The purpose of chassis braces is the same as strut tower bars. They stiffen up the chassis. It's not a bad thing to have. I had both front and rear Tanabe lower braces on my Prelude. I didn't feel the difference when cornering. The only time when I felt the chassis being stiffer was when I went over speed bumps. The one thing that I didn't like about the front one was that it sat too low. I scraped the hell out of it. And one time I hit a rock, it bent the brace and caused rattling between the header and the brace. That was when I took mine off.

I like the Cusco chassis braces, but I'm afraid that it's gonna get banged up.

I believe the spoon strut positions differently than the other strut bars. Instead of installing over and on top of the oem strut. this peice goes UNDER the oem strut. Its almost hidden when u glance at the engine bay from the front unless u lean forward and look down.

Does the positioning of the Spoon strut bar have an advantage over the strut bars that install over and on top of the oem strut bar?

I have a Spoon Sports Strut bar too. Yes, it's a little harder to install due to its location, but I think it's worth it. Great item to have.

Did you happen to notice a dimple on the center of the bar?

...if so, is it facing up towards the hood or down towards the header?

It's not an actual hole, but some sort of indentation.

Don't worry, I installed mine with that dimple facing up towards the hood too...so I hope we both installed it right
