Spoon Calipers

Can someone shed some info on these brake upgrades or other BBKs that reuse or fit with a stock sized 17" rim?

Just curious I think CCC has a set and they look really great. I'm thinking of upgrading the stock brakes on our TSX. I'm already using Hawk HPS pads but I think I need something more.

Lito also got a set of spoon Calipers on his ride, These will fit over the stock rotors. You will most likely need a new set of wheels bigger than stock 17" because it might not clear.

I hope they clear the 17's I run the OEM 17x7.5 ET55 A-spec rim in the summer and the OEM 7-spoke 17x7 ET55 standard rims with snow tires in the winter.

Our OEM calipers clear a 16" Honda rim. So if the Spoon's are a tick bigger they should fit on 17"s but I'd like to hear from somebody with them that has tried.

Also where do you purchase them? I'm assuming you need to contact one of the JDM parts vendors?

don't the spoon calipers take some different sized pads? i thought this was kind of the drawbacks. you have to shell out more for some specific/custom pad that fits vs. using hawk pads or something.

For Spoon calipers, make sure you get the Mono-Block type. Brake pad will be AP1 pad.

The calipers can be use on stock rotors, and I wish it clears it can clear my 16" winter rims w/ some spacer.

If you are using the stock wheels you will need some 5mm spacer to clear. Do a search they are everywhere.

Spoon caliper will not clear stock wheels without spacers at least 5mm, but it will clear the 17" Silver Star wheels with no problem

Yeah, spacers suck...

I guess now I'll have to call the TireRack and see if any of the Brembo GT BBK kits will fit with the OEM wheels?

I bet the A-Spec rims I have would clear, but I still want to use the OEM rims in the winter with Dunlop winter sport M3's - which are almost brand spanking new from little use last winter.

Else I guess option (B) is to replace the pads with something more aggressive and new rotors. I actually think the Hawk Ceramics I had before the HPS pads put down more bite.

no big brake kit will fit the oem wheels I am almost possitive as the tsx stock wheels have to high of a offset of +55. I am running 17x7.5 +40 volk te37 and I would almost be certain that if the wheel was +45 it would hit the brake caliper. I would say most brake kits will require a wheel of at least +45. If you get the right set of spacers that have studs built into them I dont see the problem. check out the 10mm spacers by project kics.

Ok group, any help here... Will the Spoon calipers really clear the 5-star rims?

I have measured and I have about 14mm's of clearance between the OEM caliper face and the rear of the A-spec rim 10 spoke design rim.

I will measure how many mm are between the caliper and the volk te37 I have on tonight. I think its less than 5mm and personally think you need atleast 3mm to be safe.

I just bought a set of Work Meister S1's with a +40 offset, I planned on getting the spoon calibers sometime in the future so I sure hope they clear.
Winter might be tough cus I'm going back to the OEM rims but if a 5mm spacer works I'm sold.
