Short shift install

I install a comptech shortshifter this weekend. It took way longer than it should have but I was trying to be careful. the center console was tough to take off. those clips are much more secure than in my accord. i got half way though and i couldn't get that safety clip that holds the shift cable so started using the neuspeed instructions. that worked out a lot better. For those that have done this is the shift cable supposed to be lower than before? I know you are adding to the shifter but it seems like they would design it so that it will be close to stack as possible. Also did it make your shifts harder? it seems like i have to force it into 5th sometimes.

I actually heard it makes the shifting much smoother.

And by any chance, do you have the pictures of your installations?

yes, remember there is a fulcrum, there extending the other end of the shift lever means less movement on the shifter side.

yes, simple physics would suggest that moving an object (linkage) the same distance with less shifting would require more force (w = F x d). my 5th is very easy, only 2nd is tough just because that's how the transmission is.

Two questions....

Does the Comtech Short Shift piece actually add to the shifter lever and raise it up a little bit, or does it replace something?

When you say you wish it was shorter, do you mean the height or the throw?

Thanks............

it makes the lever longer at the bottom, doesn't change the height of the stick at all. he means make the throw shorter.

here are some pictures. There is no real rhyme or reason to the way I took them. i was taking them so that i could remember what things looked like. I didn't take the cassing all the way off. I couldn't get that clip off. So i just reach under it. I didn't take a before shot of the shifter. i think that it lowered about an inch and half.

It took me a week to get used to it. Now I thinks its awesome. In two weeks i will install Comptechs Icebox.
