Rwd tsx
#2
Huge Challenge. The car is designed to be FWD, so with RWD the driving dynamics will change, and not necessarily for the better. I'd imagine the central tunnel would be higher/wider to accommodate the driveshaft, plus the rear axle. Not just hardware, but software for such an application. Most likely be heavier. With disposable income, anything is possible.

Anything is possible with sufficient funds. I don't think it would be worth it in any way though. You'd be better off just selling the TSX and getting a RWD vehicle. The TSX isn't that great. It would be cheaper to get a RWD vehicle and swap a K24 into it than to convert the TSX to RWD. You'd also have much much better physics to deal with. The TSX just isn't designed to be a RWD.

...just so you know.
tsx came in awd in the island areas and some other places
the chassis code for that is the CL8
if you can source one itll be much better off.
+ k > h so why the hell would you want to do an h swap?

Well the issue with keeping the K24 is that is needs to be spun 90 degrees to handle the RWD platform. At this point I'm looking to retain the K24
@CGP CL9 thanks for the help bro. Though I don't intend to pull AWD pieces, it'll be very helpful for R&D to see the differences

No offense to anyone, and I think I have a pretty open mind, but..... this strikes me as a textbook case of someone with way too much time on their hands and/or more money than brains (and though there used to be quite of few of those people around, I'd guess the economic conditions of late have reduced that number considerably). I'd spend the money on a nice BMW if I felt the need for RWD.

The point is.. its a downgrade motorwise. If your doing it for RWD why not use a different motor/tranny/etc? For the money its not worth it with this swap. Your better off trying to find that AWD K24 setup.

na if money is not a problem get a a skyline r34 motor and tranny an adapt it to the awd acura system it would be alot faster than a rwd setup with an h22 i really think a rwd tsx with h22 stock it gunna be slow ... n did u think about all the suspension body and reinforcement your going to have to do to make the car drive "safe" get a rwd car like mr2 s2000 or 240sx it would be a better platform to work with your rwd idea than a tsx

H22's don't gain much power off of bolt on's compared to K24's. that and the aftermarket support for the K-series are much much larger than H22's. I had a 1998 Prelude before picking up my TSX, and that thing was slow. lol. only way to gain real power off that thing is to go boost, or go all motor, but it's crazy expensive for a car that's only worth about $5k. TSX's are also heavier than preludes, so it'll just be even slower when you swap a H22 into a prelude. then there's the cost of swapping it and fabricating your own parts to convert the car to RWD. You already have a K24 in your tsx, so why not attempt to convert it to RWD? saves you the hassle to find a working H22 swap, which is going to set you back a few thousand. i'm sure it'll cost less in the long run keeping the K24, since K-series motors are 'new technology' and people are still playing around with the new motor vs the old and neglected H22.

So screw the h22 lol. It was an early idea and a bad one at that. Building the k24 is a WAY better idea. RWD will/Does require a lot of work/money and I'm not all sure its going to happen. I enjoy unique cars and sleepers. Car's that do what you don't expect. Thanks for all the thoughts. And anyone with more, please post 'em!And CGP CL9 thanks for the tech bit I didn't know about!

EuroRuben97, thanks for the support bro! The TSX is actually set up surprisingly well to handle a RWD drivetrain. It's loads of work but would be so cool. I'm still working on it! Will be probably about 18mon build. If it happens

The only thing about your claims is that it will never happen! AWD would be a better/easier platform for the TSX.. Do you even know anyone that would help you with the framing?? This wont be a "drop in" type of build.. Your own version of Monster Garage huh?.. Make it happen!

Well seeing the car kissed a telephone pole over the weekend, I guess its time to start. And I think the k24 is going in favor of an LS1.
And PrecyseStylez, just cause you said that, I guess I really need to make this happen.
