Arrow RSX-S AEM rotors on a '04 TSX?

Hello to all,

I have been searching and reading several threads regarding brake setups for our cars. Two threads I read through had a few members claiming that the RSX Type-S brake systems (stock) are identical to the 04-05 TSX setup.

My question is:

Is this true, as in has anyone actually used an RSX-S big brake kit or upgraded rotors on a TSX?

Secondly, if they do indeed work, would the AEM larger rotor upgrade setup work? Will the relocation bracket function with out front calipers?

Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I'm looking to do a feasible upgrade for road racing this summer but don't want to shell out $1.5k for a Stoptech setup.

TIA

if i'm not mistaken, the size of the rotor is the same, but the thickness is different..... i may be mistaken though...

^^They are different widths, though they are both 16" rotors.

They are similar caliper and setup, but they are not the same (ie they don't share the same parts in all respects).

Technically, they're 12.244" (311mm), they say 16" in the parts catalog. Don't know why.

Thanks for the replies guys.

When you say "width" are you referring to the width of the rotor including the hat, or simply the rotor surfaces (both sides + internal venting)?

Because if the hat widths are the same, it shouldn't affect the offset of the rotors themselves. If the width of the rotor surface area isn't too much it should work since the caliper (when clamped) could compensate for the difference.

If anything I would think the RSX-S rotors would possibly be thinner in the rotor surface area than the TSX being that the TSX is a heavier platform.

What do you guys think? Maybe I can get a hold of one of my buddies with a rsx-s and take some measurements....

I can just about 100% promise you, they won't work. One side of the caliper will probably not fit due to brake pad clearance, but you are more than welcome to try. I'm not given specs on hat height versus total height. I would suggest you look at the specs on the Brembo site. If they give difference rotors (which I know they do) that should settle the issue not to mention the parts catalog would show them sharing the same rotors.... AND it doesn't.

just so you know, rotora has a bbk application that costs about 1200$ and comptech offers a rear brake upgrade, where is moves the rear caliper further out and you get bigger rotors.

Yeah, it has to compensate for the new bracket and caliper.
