Rear trunk spoiler and third brake light

As I understand it, if your TSX does not have a rear trunk spoiler, there is a third brake light in the rear window. If your TSX does come witht he OEM spoiler, there is no third brake light. Now, since the rear spoiler is a dealer installed option (i think), how do they get rid of the third brake light? I got my car without the rear spoiler but was thinking of adding one and want to remove the third brake light in the rear window.

Any clues?

Spoiler goes on and the wire is tapped to the rear deck spoiler. The rear deck light assembly stays in the window without the bulb.

ahhh...alot of cars I see that come with the OEM spoiler at the dealership don't have a third brake light.

That's how i can tell if people bought thier spoiler witht he car or they put it on after they take delivery.

from the instruction of the spoiler installation, you have to remove the wire that connect to the rear deck light and then connect to the spoiler. Therefore, the rear deck light won't show up when braking and the spoiler one will. I guess that's why you don't see the deck light show up when braking

Are you sure that that the light isn't just disabled? I've never seen a TSX with a spoiler and the third brake light removed..

I have an OEM spoiler and my third brake light is non-fuctional because there is no bulb in the housing, however the third brake light housing is still in the rear window

Of course the housing is still there. Why would they take that out? Taking the bulb out is useless additionally. The wire that runs to the third brake light housing is the one that gets used for the rear wing when it is installed. We've covered this already.

Quite the contrary. All Honda cars are assembled without accessory options at the factory. This means that they are equipped with all of the standard features and accessory options are always dealer installed. Cars DO NOT arrive with less equipment. If a dealer is removing brake light housings, we have another problem on our hands.

Like it has been stated a number of times now: The housing should be there, but the wiring will be disconnected from the 3rd light housing to supply power to the rear wing's integrated brake light.

Bingo.
I recently removed my rear spoiler and purchased a globe for the high mount stop light. Plugs straight back in again.

One thing with the OZ Euro is that when they installed spoiler at dealership they not only removed globe, but also put a blanking plate across the light. Now for the life of me I can not figure out how to remove this blanking plate.

Any sugestions??

BTW Euro looks heaps sweeter without spoiler!!

Do you still have that plate and is there a part number on it. We have not such plate to cover where the dome in the rear window would be. Since I have the spoiler, I'd love to remove the dome, but need something to cover hole it leaves.

Pics would be great too!!

I hope noone minds me dredging up a month-old thread, but if I have the car tinted, it sounds like I should wait until the spoiler is installed (they didn't have it in stock), then have the tint applied over where the older (now non-functional) light was.

I'm not sure about the TSX, but in my Prelude, the hump for the light actually blocked part of the rear view, just like the spoiler. So, it was nice to be able to remove the housing.
