Fujitsubo Legalis R is another, as too would be the 5Zigen's.
None will be AS quiet as stock, but they won't be sound like a race car.
If you change manifold/CAT to something more flowing, then you will hear another change in tone and potentially boom level.
As I said on the other thread similar to this, if you don't plan on changing those and the air intake as well, then you're squandering money for vanity's sake. Certainly no more than 3 bhp will be realised with the exhaust only being changed.
Unlike bodywork vanity, the only person who'll see your exhaust to be impressed (probably not though) is you and/or your service technician - so it's quite a chunk of money for not much in return.

Tanabe MT.

Agreeing with PJS that it's purely audio/visual, however. I put my MT on in May and I LOVE how my car sounds, but the money could be more effectively spent on header/intake/cat.

If you want quiet, Comptech IS NOT a good one. Maybe with the quiet tips in, but then what's the point. Regardless, you aren't going to get any gains from the exhaust. All the gains from the exhaust systems include a header and cat replacement. Anytime you try to get gains from the exhaust, it means making the air flow better, which translates into louder in most instances. The Tanabe MT is probably your best option, but again, don't expect gains.

I have Tanabe MT on my TSX and it's pretty quiet. If you are looking for some exhaust that are quiet, Tanabe is a way to go

My Comptech catback on my 06 MT is NOT LOUD, not at all, even with the Comptech header and RT cat it still is not loud by any means. The only time I really even notice it is taking off from a stop on a hill, otherwise at cruising speed there is neglagible difference between stock and the CT catback. If you are sitting in your driveway throwing revs, then yes it's loud as is the Tanabe MT, Fujitsubo, 5zigen, and Greddy. But it's deffinately not ear shattering by any means. Driving down the freeway at 55 I cannot hear it and civics come by and their exhaust deffinately out powers mine.

True.. you probably won't notice any noticeable gains, except on a dyno.

For me though, when i put any new parts into a car, it makes the car more 'driveable.' the feeling when u can actually hear ur engine rev.

But... if the exhaust is too noisy, it's just too ricey and attracts LAPD cops...

Yeah eventually i'll be getting an exhaust but want something not too loud that makes it sound deeper and has no resemblance to a weed-whacker

plus you can throw on quiet tip inserts with competech if you want to go stealth mode again. i just recently got some of those tips and it reduced the sound of the exhaust by about 80%.........

Not quiet, that's for sure. Isn't the 70RR cat-less as well?

You can always get a nice header but keep the stock exhaust.

if you want quiet just stay oem.

Intakes makes more difference.

If you want quiet, but more aggressive appearance, then I'd say stay OEM and bolt on some S2K oval exhaust tips...

i really lke my comptech exhaust
maybe it could be a bit bigger in size
for your reference, 06+ tsx tip diameter is about 85mm. comptech is 90mm. Tanabe MT, Fujitsubo are 100mm. Greddy EVO2 is 115mm.

i like the comptech's quality, although bit expensive, and it's quiet with bit of lower tone of exhaust.

Tip diameter doesn't interest me. I'm more concerned with the piping diameter when I buy a catback.

If you buy a catback with a bigger pipe diameter, it won't help as much unless you increase the diameter before the cat (as well as swapping the cat). It can even hurt. Back in the accord forum years ago, people were increasing the pipe diameters by alot, and were experiencing loss of power/torque.

Sure, tip diameters don't affect performance...but they do make a noticeable change in aesthetics. For people who are more concerned with looks, then jaehshim did the community a service by providing valuable information (for future searches)

Yes, there are several ways of building a proper exhaust system that helps performance and also sounds good. We have found several ways of doing this through years of building high quality exhaust systems.

It depends on the engine. The old Accord F series engines didn't flow much, and an increase in diameter did affect backpressure. With the TSX's K-series engine, the flow is much higher, with the exhaust flow being limited by both the oval split and the puny 1.5" piping just before the mufflers.

Anyway, the reason I said that the tip diameter doesn't really matter because if you wanted just aesthetics, you could just chop off the tips from the stock muffler and weld on some larger tips at the exhaust shop.

Anyone have experience with the GReddy SP2? I might have to go Fujitsubo. Comptech is nice, but right now I'm on a JDM vendetta.

I too love my Comptech exhaust because of the tips the civilized, pseudo-stealthy tip diameter.

I'm sure I'm going to get flamed for saying this, but with the exception of the SP2, almost all other TSX exhausts tend to look a little ricey to me (especially the EVO2). Besides the larger diameter, I think it has to do with the sidewalls of other exhaust's tips being considerably thinner than Comptech's. IMO, it gives them a sort of "cheap" (hence ricey) look and most likely adds to the increased dB levels compared to the Comptech exhaust.

IMO, the comptech tips are too small. I think the stock tips look more agressive than the comptech tips. I like the size and look of the tips on the 350Z and G35. I think the closest to that look for the TSX is the greddy SP2.

i agree and disagree
SP2? have u seen them in real life? i've seen them from a member's tsx, and first i almost thought it was EVO2, meaning it is HUGE. trust me... the guy wanted to change back to stock cat exhaust because SP2 actually worsened car's performance, torque band to be specific.

I agree with you about the comptech exhaust tip size. it is small. yes... lol but whenever i start the engine, it's a great head turner. like those Dinan exhaust from Bimmer, size is about the same, can't see difference except its shiny stainless quality. sound is amazing!

by the way, EVO2 and Comptech SS give really different impression, but i do like EVO 2 style on TSX. it sounds great too !

I like the EVO2 baffles, round looks nice and does achieve an aggressive look, but I went with Comptech for quality and sound. The Comptech is deep and low pitched, however at redline it screams and people turn their heads. Probably because they have never seen a TSX that is modified lol, none the less it's not a ricey sound.

I don't think the Greddy's sound ricey either or Fujitsubo. But I have seen some videos of the 5zigen single, DC sports, and Skunk2, now those are ricey sounding and LOUD! lol But the most terrible thing I have heard is on the 3G TL forum is people removing the stock resonator, BLEH! lol Sorry to the TLers who read this but it sounds god awful.

well single are for performance its lighter and you lose the dual catbacks so the out pressure is up.

I like my fujitsubo but its still to quiet even with a highflow cat. at first before the highflowcat it was quiet and the cat gave it some more noise but not enough to even creat a drone in the car.

Greddys nice i wish i gotten to drive in one. I always love hearing it at meets.

hmm..i was always under the impression that the SP2 tips were smaller, I guess they are just rolled then? I was originally going to get the SP2 but had to settle for the EVO2. I am still working on getting them hanging equally.

the 5Zigen is anything but loud and ricey. it's actually really quiet. i think i know which clip you're referring to though for the 5zigen where it sounded loud/ricey.

Actually, I totally agree with you.

Besides Comptech exhaust, the others are too ricey.

BTW, is Comptech still producing the exhausts? with the ownership change and all.
