Question about header

I can buy a DC sports header and throw it on the car without replaceing the stock exhaust correct?
Do i need anything besides the header to make it bolt right up?

just be sure to get new gaskets! Stock gasket for where the engine meets the header and stock gasket for where the header meets the cat

Good point, you don't want any leakage...

Thanks guys.

How many people here have installed themselves? I sawJTso's DIY thread and it looks pretty easy, but just want to see how many ppl actually installed themselves.

I've done at least 5 header installs now with nothing but floor jack, jack stands, and hand tools. Its a very easy job on the TSX, as long as you can break the rusted up stock hardware loose!

i have an 08 with 3000 miles on it. I shouldnt have to deal with the rusted hardware. Hearing that youve done 5 with nothing but floor jacks and hand tools, this makes me excited to do it.
Is there anything i should definately know about the install? are there any parts of it that are like the hardest, or a big pita? pretty straightfoward? ive looked at all the diagrams, threads, pics, etc and it does look pretty easy.

bottom left bolt on the stock header is a major PITA, it's at a tough angle, I resorted to an impact wrench to get it off. At the time my 06 had 17,000 miles on it. Just be sure when you are breaking the bolts loose to keep the socket firmly planted on the bolt, no angles because if you break it loose at an angle and not full on the bolt you'll end up stripping the head of the bolt.

Is the header gasket a two piece gasket?
Im looking at this diagram, and part list and there are two listings for exhaust manifold gasket, both have diff part numbers.

according to that diagram you posted you will need gasket number 3

You will also need the gasket that is between the header and cat which is just a ring

Number three is listed twice.

2 Different part numbers, Two different prices.

Two different parts that serve the same purpose. You only need one of them, not both. I don't think there is a difference. I ran into the same "problem" when I was replacing my header. I forget which one I chose (it was probably the less expensive one).

My dealer told me that one of those gasket part #s replaced the older one. Either one is fine, they are the same.
