Pulstar Plugs, Snakeoil?
#82
Those are interesting results. When I tested them on a Chevy V8, one of the questions we had but couldn't answer was how an fuel injected motor with a modern engine management system would react to the plugs, compared to an old-school carburetor.

Noticeable increase in MPG in the first tank, about 30.5 to 32, nearly all highway. Would have expected that much going from 103,000-mile original plugs to brand new high-end plugs even without the "pulse circuit," but we'll see how the next couple of tanks pan out before deciding on keeping them.

The last two tanks were 29.9 MPG each over the course of about 900 highway miles, essentially no difference in the overall MPG. I'm sending them back and putting in Iridium IX plugs instead. Considering that the Nines cost $45 instead of $120, and last twice as long, they're about a sixth of the cost of the Pulstars.

It would have been cool if they worked, but oh well, reality bites.
I'm about 375 miles into my first 100% highway tankful with the new Iridium IX from ForeignImportCarParts.com, and I suspect the difference is going to be pronounced. With the Pulstars, the fuel gauge got to the halfway mark at about 200 miles, but the halfway mark was passed earlier this week at about 250-260 miles.

Sorry, the website blew up, and in the course of fixing it my web guru did something that cause all the permalinks to change. The direct link is now:

I know that Pulstars work from experience, but they are also very fragile in at least one application. They have held up very well in my 2007 Honda Civic auto and are returning 1 to 2 more miles per gallon. The seat of the pants performance increase was minimal. I also bought them for a 99 Taurus Wagon with the Vulcan 3.0 engine. The seat of the pants performance was very significant in this vehicle, particularly at the low end. However, I believe they are heat sensitive and because they are mostly surrounded by the exhaust manifold in this particular car design every single plug failed over a span of 10,000 miles. The plugs against the firewall failed first, then the ones facing the front failed. It was too bad because they really did make a difference.

Plugs
Just purchased an '05 acura tsx 6mt, I'm not sure where to start with performance parts, etc but I do notice my engine is a big sluggish to turn over. What's the best bang for my buck per say for plugs?
If this is a dumb question, I apologize. Gotta cut me some slack as a female attempting to be knowledgable about my vehicle!
