the injen cai (which i have) and i believe all cai's will cause this...... at low rpm you catually lose a little in torque. i believe this is until about 3500rpm, then it starts to go up. when vtec kicks in at 6200rpm then is where you "feel" the power. i believe that headers will also cause the same result. i think when you add i/h/e (intake/headers/exhust) then you start to see an overall gain. but that is about $1600 in mods (depends on what componies you choose). the best bang for the buck is the cai.

I wouldn't worry about hydrolock because the tsx has the plastic cover on the bottom of the car that helps on not allowing water. i think that the only way that it will hydrolock is if you drive for a few seconds in 2 foot deep water (not a 2 feet puddle).

and i also agree that the rims/wheel combo is very important. the tsx rims weigh about 21lbs each. the tires i believe they are 29lbs. that's 50lbs per corner. remember that tires/wheels are unsprung weight (weight that you need to move (rotate) in order to make the car move. keeping weight down is also important, but unspring weight is critical. i heard somewhere that the rule of thumb is that 10lbs of unsprung weight is about .1sec in the 1/4. so in theory if you get wheels that are 17lbs and tires that are 26lbs, you have a total of 43lbs. that's a saving of 7lbs. x4 its 28lbs. in theory that would be almost .3 in the 1/4 faster, not to mention that summer tires you get more grip and you get a better launch and will be faster that way also.

i think that if you want to gain low end power you should look into light weight tires/wheels. i think that is the best solution.
