Performance update after 12K

Hello All. First, I want to tell all of you that the numbers I have gotten are not official. They have been measured with a hand held stopwatch when my car was new and now. So the times while not accurate are relative to the precision of my stopwatch and speedometer. I think the numbers are indicative nonetheless.

When my car had just over 2k on the odo, I went to a favorite stretch of flat two lane road, stopped, and just floored it (I have a 5AT) and using my stop watch, as the needle hit 60mph, the best time I could get after 6 attempts was 9.3 seconds. The highest was 9.8.

I now have 12K on the odo.

Yesterday, I went to the same stretch of road, same stopwatch. The highest time I could record was 8.6 seconds down 1.2 seconds from my original highest time. The best time I recorded was 7.9 seconds (and achieved this on 3 separate runs) down 1.4 seconds from my previous best.

Now I know that these numbers are not "track times", but, relative to my own environment, I am very pleased at the very real improvement in performance as the car has broken in.

As I have said before, this car just keeps amazing me.

You may have been on the same stretch of road, but were the conditions the same? I'm not sure where you live, but the cooler winter temperatures will also affect your acceleration time.

Those numbers seem kinda slow for the TSX.. i read somewhere that our 0-60 is around 7.3sec. i could be wrong.

The numbers you have heard are for the manual tranny.

this was discussed before and the diff was thought to be half a second

i got 21K miles on my car, and it feels like it gets faster every week. i just got a g-shock watch with stopwatch, so i'll have to time it. i bet i'm close to 7 flat with manual.

i bet the auto would be closer to 1 sec slower than manny. the gearing is less aggressive, and you can't dump the clutch like manual. not to mention increased drivetrain loss due to torque converter, etc.

hopefully i'll be at the stip within a month with some slips to back up all my talk.

hmm... got about 2k on my car right now... should be in the post break in period already, but it feels like my ride is getting slower than when it was still in the break in period. maybe i'm just getting numbed or when i first switched from a 92 subaru legacy... the tsx seems just way too fast... either way, i havent notice a difference in acceleration.

1st of all, never buy a 4 banger with an auto, they're all gonna be slow, see s2000, celica gts, can't even get cars with auto to my knowledge.

2nd, wait till you have 10K+ miles to decide speed of car
