Official Modification thread
hey everyone
I am taking delivery of my TSX with navi in approximately 1 week and I had questions about performance upgrades.
After doing a bit of searching, it appears that modest gains can be had with simple mods secondary to the restriction acura has placed on the engine. What would be the best/high yield mods? I dont wish to spend more then 1k-1,500k and I do NOT want to void the warrenty.
It might be a good idea to sticky this thread so everyone can post their experience. Many parts are discussed on this website, but consolidating the info seems like a good idea. Ideally, please post the mod, price paid and power gain (either subjective or objective). Thanks!!

K&N Typhoon cold air intake - $180
DC Sports 4-2-1 header - $300
Universal high flow cat - $160
Hondata intake spacer - $60
Hondata ECU reflash - $600
Total: $1320
That will get your engine running a lot stronger, which seems to be your primary objective.

RMpage
Great little rundown, but, Ive been told the CAI is the best intake for gaines. Also, any problems with the DC headers with regards to build quality. Some say that comptech is superior in build quality (stainless steel) but provide few gaines until you hit >6200 rpms.

2004 NHBP TSX 5AT w/ Navi:
Mods Include:
Injen CAI (Black): $230
Greddy EVO2 Cat-back: $735
TIEN Basic Coilovers: $675
Total: $1640
The Greddy Exhaust provides no gains, but the Injen CAI will give you about 9 whp. The Tien Coilovers will take away the wheel gap on the Car and are height adjustable. They provide a slightly stiffer ride and a little better handling. To Reduce understeer: Go w/ the comptech rear sway bar. People have had very good experience with it, I'm ordering one myself within the next week. If you have any questions you can PM me.

Handling is King
I haven't jumped into the engine upgrade arena yet, but soon enough... However, the following suspension mods will give your TSX one hell of a grin factor:
-A-Spec suspension: $700-$1200 depending on whether you go for dealer install and purchase
-18x7.5 wheels w/ 225/40 rubber: $1000-$???
Also, I'm working on getting a Comptech rear sway just to bring it all a tad bit tighter, but A-Spec will put handing in the BMW range as long as you don't limit the car's grip with the standard rubber...

I have the Injen CAI, short shifter, rear sway, and now reflash. All totalled about $1000 and the car performs much better in different ways. It goes faster, shifts faster, and handles better. If you want an increase in all around performance I'd say that's package you want. Lighter rims will also do the same but that alone will likely run well over $1000.

I had asked my parents for the short shifter for my car for x-mas and they ordered it early and had it installed. that was their small contribution to my car
and yes, it is an amazing mod. I Love the feel and when i get in my sisters jetta (used to be mine) i feel like i am shifting a mac truck or something.

Yes, the short shifter shortens the throw and makes the shifting more sharp and precise IMO... Makes my driving experience a bit more exciting... Now just gotta get my CAI and lower my car and I'll be set

short-throw shifter
??? My TSX has the sweetest shift action of any car I have ever driven (it's actually a big reason that I choose the TSX). I'm not sure if I would want to fuck around with it—it’s already perfect.

Suggestions
I just bought a new '05 6MT TSX and Im looking for suggestions on how to modify it with little cash to do so. Are there any cool exhaust mods that will boost hp? also, where can i find a CAI and how much will it cost/ boost hp?
any other suggestions as to how i can improve hp without hurting gas mileage too much and without a whole lot of $$?
THANKS!
