NRGCELL battery usage in TSX

Ok, so whether or not I recommend a batter for a given car, I like to take a look at the stock battery to see what kind of power output that is needed. Generally you can go with something with a little less power than stock and still have plenty of starting juice, even in cold climates.

Well, I installed some Basics on a members car on Sat and noticed the battery:

410 CCA is not a lot at all. Our smallest battery has 360 CCA, which is more than enough to start and run a TSX with no issues whatsoever. For those looking for a little MORE power than stock, check out the NRGCELL Slim battery. We have a special going in the sponsor forums. Take a look at the specs on these units:

Yeah, finding a battery equal or greater in instantaneous power delivery than the stock one won't be difficult. The stock Panasonic unit seems to have slightly more energy than a button cell from a 20 year old wristwatch. I got rid of mine with haste.

The cool thing about the NRGCELL is that you are going to lose about 15-30 lbs (dependsing on stock battery weight) right over the front of the car. You can feel that kind of weight loss.

Really? What, in handling? It can't be enough to get much of a speed difference...

Hey, anyone go hardcore and start taking out stuff they don't use, like a cruise control? I wonder how much weight that would lose?

Now that I think about it, I've heard of people going so far as to mount the battery in the trunk.

Anyway, thanks for the tip on the battery.

Less weight is usually felt in transitions, from side to side, the most. Accellerationa nd braking are helped, but you need more of a loss to notice that.

All in all, the smaller battery is a critical part of any serious weight loss program.

These batteries make relocation a lot easier too. Since they are sealed, you can mount them in any direction without a battery box!

Taking out all the extra airbags (leaving the 2 fronts) and swapping out the seats should save you some serious weight. If you really wanna go hardcore, that is.

Also consider that the side curtain airbags are high in the outside edges of the car. Removing these will not only reduce weight, but they will lower the center of gravity of the whole car and concentrate more weight to the center of the vehicle laterally, which will improve side-to-side transitions.
