need recommendations on a Floor Jack for TSX

Hi
new here and great stuff here, lookin at getting a Comptech Sway + Icebox soon... But before i start anything, it seems i require a GOOD floor jack for a lotta mods.
i started lookin around and found A LOT of them get bad reviews... so if anyone could recommend one (from personal experience would be best) it would help me out tons.

i just got a 2006 TSX.

i see cheap ones range around 50-80 but i would like a sturdy one and understand if it goes in the high 100s...

thanks for any help...

Whatever jack you get, make sure it has a lifting range of at least 17" or more. The jacking points on my 04 are fairly high off the ground already and you need to get it up pretty high for the tires to clear the ground. I bought a Craftsman that goes to 21". Works OK for me but it got pretty bad reviews (I didn't read the reviews until after I bought it).

If you plan on lowering it at all you want to go with a low profile jack. They have a good one at costco for like $100. JTso might be able to tell you a good make/model. He's the one that helped me with mine.

Mine is an Arcan xl-35 3.5ton low profile floor jack. It was pretty cheap and works great. My car is dropped about 2-2.5" and it works perfectly for it.

Pick up some jacks stands while you're at it. I've heard a few horror stories of jacks giving out when a person was underneath the car.

I bought Sears' Craftsman Professional high-lift SUV jack (max 21" lift) and it works great, especially hitting the TSX's rear-center jacking point if you're trying to put the rear of the car up on two jack stands. It was $70-ish and works great.

I got a Craftsman Aluminum racing jack, good for carrying it around to tracks if you need it. And lifting range starts from 3" from floor height, pretty good if your car is slammed, but it aint gon work if you're slammed like CCC

What problems do they have dropping the car back down? It works the same as any other jack. You twist the handle it and it brings it down as slow as you want

Maybe it's operator error... never had a problem with mine

I have two jacks from Costco and have been using them on a regular basis for the last few years without any problems. Both are low profile, high-lift jacks. One is a heavy duty 3-1/2 ton and the other is a 2 ton light weight. Both will lift up to 21" and clear my TSX lowered 2" with the OEM front spoiler. Both have wide wheels and wide saddle for stability. The aluminum jack is about $100 and the heavy duty one is about $70.

Okay, so I just recieved a $50 gift card from my employer. I have had in mind in buying a low profile jack. I checked out costco, but they only seem to have one low profile jack which looks pretty good and it's only $99, but the maximum height range is "14.76 inches . Would I need a higher range for my car. I'm lowered and I think a low profile jack would be great.

I'm assuming Costo has more "Jacks" off hand directly in the store, have any of you been there lately?

Don't just look for low profile. Make sure it's high-lift as well. Otherwise, you will have problem jacking the rear up.

http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...0100383&AFFL=Y

it gives me much room to crawl under my car.

edit: even though it got bad reviews, it has worked fine for me....i guess i shouldnt recommend it

You can give it away to a friend or relative or if all aluminum, put it in the recycle bin.

Also, I'd like to add that for A-spec guys, they need a jack design that has a long distance between the lifting point and the lever. Otherwise, the handle will hit the front lip when trying to use the front jacking point.

You can still use it for other things like changing tires, supporting an exhaust system during installation or raising the suspension during bolt tightening process. I have two other regular jacks for those functions.
