I am thinking about buying a aftermarket muffler and take it to a muffler shop and have them install it. Also have them take the old piping and make a custom piping. I need some feedback on this. Is this a good idea? Also if I do this whAT TYPE OF MUFFLER SHOULD I GET.
Get a DynoMax UltraFlow!! LOL
Seriously, going with larger piping isn't always a good idea. People don't realize that if you free up the exhaust too much (and lose too much back pressure) then you can lose low end power. So you are essentially just robbing Peter (low end power) to pay Paul (high end power). So unless you plan on turboing the car, just keep the sock piping and see if you can get Walker QuietFlow that will bolt right up to it.

Depends on what you're looking for...
Pick a good aftermarket muffler and make sure you get mandrel bent piping, no larger than 2.5 inches in diameter.
If you're looking to go loud, skip the mufflers entirely and just install piping after the catalytic converter.

I just checked their website (http://www.walkerexhaust.com/products/mufflers.asp) and it doesn't look like they make it for the TSX yet. I had one on my 95 Civic and loved it. I got it from Summit Racing (although I had to call them since it was never listed in their catalog). Despite the name, the muffler was distintly deeper and as little louder than stock -- mostly noticable when you really get on the gas hard. On the Civic, I also had DynoMax SuperTurbo and UltraFlow (both with custom piping) before the Quietflow, and I fell like the QF gave my just as good or better performance without the obnoxious loudness I got with the other two mufflers.Originally Posted by silkk8482
