Mods = Torquesteer?

There are several mods out for the TSX that can significantly boost the HP output. (CAI, Hondata, headers, exhaust). Just curious, those of you who have added power mods to your TSXs, are you detecting any hint of torquesteer as a result of the increased output?

The torque gains from most of those mods probably isn't enough to induce torque steer on the TSX. Plus, the suspension is well set up enough that it will likely eliminate torque steer all the way up to well over 200+ lb/ft of torque at the crank.

I don't think anyone has more than 215 to 220 hp so torquesteer shouldn't be much of a concern. Once the supercharger hits the shelves it could be another story though...

No way are we making enough power to have torquesteer... but AFAIK Honda's control torque steer the best of any FWD vehicles. That's the only reason the 270hp TL can exist, but I hear the 6MT does have some.

My old golf only had 122 lb ft of torque and it torquesteered like crazy. Honda has done an excellent job of controlling torquesteer with the TSX.

yea, i used to have a spec v before the tsx, and it depends on how much torque you have at what rpm, the spec created 175ft-lbs but about 160ft-lbs around 2500rpm where i would launch at, and it would torque steer like crazy, and the LSD didn't help the issue at all. I think that the LSD adds more in torque steer then any other mod.

definately, instead of 1 wheel pulling w/ an open diff you have 2 w/ twice as much torque steer.

If torque causes torque steer, why is there a HP cutoff for FWD cars?

sorry, didn't feel like typing much

What I meant by cutoff is that i've heard from people that 300 HP is the limit for a FWD car because of the exessive TS

There isn't a technical cutoff, my bad

torque and HP are directly related. in general a high HP car has high torque, which is why you can say a 300hp car has torque steer.

If I am in first gear and mash the throttle my cars pulls hard to the right. I don't have over 220 whp..yet. =)

Torque steer could also come from unequal lengths of the shaft going to the left and right wheel, too. It takes more work to spin a longer shaft since there's more inertia.
The reason that caused Stoke's TSX to pull to the right could be because one of the wheel is spinning faster than the other.

Should not be the case on the TSX. The TSX has equal length half-shafts specifically to prevent torque steer.

Are you sure you're on a perfectly level surface? Are you sure you tire pressures are exactly the same on both sides? Are you sure that one side isn't getting more traction than the other? And you also have to remember that the left right weight distribution isn't perfect with only one person in the car because there is more weight on the left side as a result of the driver's weight being present. There are a lot of little factors like this that can cause the pull to the right under hard acceleration.

IMO its probably the crowning of the road. That's what causes any kind of jerking w/ summer performance tires for me.
