Minor Mod

Hi,

There a few parts that I like to upgrade/install. I hope bros in the forum can comment or any experience with them.

What I already change:
HKS short ram, Spoon barke pads, Spoon front upper stut, 5Zigen single catback, test pipe, Mugen thermostat and fan switch.

Next will be:

1. HKS SLD speed remover (How it compare to Apexi RSM?),
2. Koni Yellow/Neuspeed front set shocks. Will keep the stock springs as I like the height.,
3. Short Shifter (Comptech or Neuspeed),
4. Brake Lines,

Thanks

Wow....... got pics of your ride??.... sounds hot~

but, why do you need new shocks when you are keeping the same stock height?? Maybe go coilovers?

pic coming soon.

Just want a more firm front end to reduce nose dive and lift. I know coilover is the best. But I dont need those height and damping adjustment. Will be waste of money isnt it?

Your Mugen thermostat and fan switch on a stock car with a stock ECU won't do you much good. The ECU is programmed to enrich fuel mixture until a certain temp is reached. By lowering the thermostat and fan switch temp, you are delaying the engine from moving out of warm up mode. Which means wasting fuel.

HKS SLD speed remover? Sounds like you're driving a EURO-R in Japan cuz that's the only place they sell cars with limited top speed.
Anyway, if I were you i'd take either the short shifter, for a better shifting, or brake line to complete the brake mods.

My friend who got the HKS intake for his EuroR said that he lost power. Not sure if he gained on the upper end as he never go that far,

the only reason I am tempted to get the HKS intake is cause it is JDM but it makes always not power so i will probably going to keep my injen for the power and take off the decals and have it powder coated carbon grey

I want a JDM intake too.... but found none except that Spoon filter.... which doesn't do much, but i think it's a good idea to powdercoat the Injen intake.... i don't want it polished either, that's why i was tempted to order the black one.... but, powdercoating CG would be interesting`

that's what I was thinking but it doesn't get great reviews either... I just got the K&N so I'll stick with that for a while I guess

I must say that I lost low end power on HKS. It felt "empty" when I floored the gas pedal. But if drag above vtec point, it goes very fast to rev limit and very loud too. You will get attentions!!

It is not that expensive compare to Injen or AEM.

Just got an Apexi RSM but have not install it yet. Too lazy.

At this moment, RPM limit is about 8000RPM and speed limit is lock at 180km/h. Reachable at 3rd gear. Unlock limit will become 240km/h.

I am not pro JDM or USDM. Just that since my CL7 is JDM, I pressumed Japan parts will fit more prefect.

Hi guys, since the original poster isn't clearing all questions, let me be a busybody... he's driving a CL7 Euro R from my side of the Pacific, where we can get the JDM Accords imported so those cars aree obviously japan-spec and come with a 180kmh speed limit.

HKS SLD is a speed cut remover but it is a bit pricey for a hide-away unit without a display so most of us use Apexi RSM instead - removes speed cut - the speedo will stop at 170 but you read the approx speed on the RSM display.

HKS SRI is fairly popular too, along with Apexi SRI - most users say low end will suffer but the gains in mid and high are worth it - no real hardship because the R's K20A really needs revs to get going, unlike you guys with better low end torque from 400 extra cc.

Besides Apexi, HKS, other notable JDM intakes here are GruppeM and Mugen.

Those parts create lesser backpressure. Like open pod filter, straight test pipe and bigger diameter of exhaust. All can be felt at upper range of the RPM. Surely useful. Sound better too.

Before I change all these parts, normal driving is more responsive, better pick-up.

I must say the best setup still the original. But most of us will not settle for OEM.
