Low cost mods

Hey everyone. I'm new to AcuraZine, and I own a 2005 Arctic Blue Pearl TSX.
I love my car, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on cheap or free modifications I could do to make my car run better and/or faster.

I appreciate it!!

Thanks,
Karen

buy an K&N air filter for your car.... you'll pull a little more air with this then stock, better mpg, little better response, better quality filter with a warranty + you can clean it instead of replacing the filter ever again

also you can take out your resonator and cut holes in your front vents to get colder, fresher air into your system instead of just sucking air from the hot engine bay

Define cheap and define better.

You can do something like this for almost free:

The cheapest way to get a faster car is to buy a faster model of car (TL). Getting a manual gearbox over an automatic is probably the cheapest thing you can do to get the most performance out of a particular model. Cars are already made to be as fast and efficient as economically feasible.

My list of Best Bang For Buck Mods:

Short Shifter, Comptech is less than 100 - I found a Mugen one used for 100.
Corpsort Shifter Bushings: like 40 bucks
Progress Rear Sway. 140 bucks - huge improvement
Intake: Anywhere from 165 for the icebox to 300 for an Injen.

I would start there.

I don't agree with this at all...I could take a TSX and a TL Type S that are the same year and mileage and make the TSX faster for less than it would take to buy the TL Type S (using Blue Book values as it really depends on what kind of deal you can find).

Most cars are not engineered with performance as the top priority, reliability and stability are the top priorities for most car makers. Performance is only a top priority for sports cars and even then reliability is still probably the auto maker's number 1 concern.

Check Ebay. I bought a cold air intake for my 07 TSX. it was 72 bucks pretty inexpensive. compared to like an AEM that is like 150. I didnt really think that there would be that much difference between the to. Ebay model is very nice and produces a great sound, with better throttle responce than stock.

So, yes to K&N intake, but no to drop in filter?

- Short shifter for a 6speed manual. US$40
- DIY CAI, K&N drop in air filter. $40
- Hondata reflash. $300
- Progress adjustable 22mm rear sway bar. $140
- DIY exhaust mod, remove 2nd resonator. $50
- tint the rear windows. $200
- debadge $0

Now you have a more powerful, better handling, better shifting, better sounding, better looking TSX for very few dollars.

DIY CAI + Amsoil drop in air filter is better i believe .. same price too.
Rear sway bar .. there's report that the Acura TL-S has the same shape rear sway bar as we do but solid and thicker. same size 22mm as well for half the price.

exhaust .. dont bother. They're pretty good flowing as it is. Only thing i would do is get an 06 cat and put it on your 05.
