L.E.D reflector lights

I saw this on a website and thought it could potentially be a good mod....has anyone thought of replacing the 2 red reflectors on the back of the car and putting an L.E.D strip as an extra brake light/turn signal?

I would do it but I would like to link them to the brake lights and the turn signals and have the turn signals override the brake lights somehow. however like tsx420j said that its not the easiest thing to attempt. there isnt much plastic as part of that reflector.

It wont be as easy as some think. Remember I did the fogs and that seems a lot easier than this. That is because the lack of space and the space needed for the pc board, leds and resistors to fit. You can do it another way but would have to cut piece off the reflector and bumper.

It would require me to open the reflectors somehow. Then I would need to find some kind of flexible pc board because the reflector has a small curve to it. Then I would need a drill press to make each hole perfectly straight. If not the leds would all point differently and looks weird since leds have small viewing angles. I dunno it can be done but would require a lot of thinking to get them right the first time.

In order for it to look goog you have to put leds all the way across.

See there is not enogh room to go all the way across. It would have to be done by seperating the reflector and doing a LED sandwich. Too much work I think. Unless someone here could seperate a pair successfully and share how they did it. Maybe I could do something and have a write up but I would have to go to my dads place 2 hours away. I really dont feel like taking my car anymore since the last time I ran over a upside down gaurd rail at 70 mph severing my tire, bending a rim and messing up my alignment. Not a good way to start a trip.

I thought there were some forms of flexible LED strips on the market? I think Varad or some alarm accessory company may have produced them. I thought of this idea a couple of years ago, but there was no way to get a fog light housing to fit. LED strips are the way to go, maybe Varad makes what we are looking for to finally get this application started.
