KN / Ingen inake !?

Ingen:
11.1 HP gain / 4.7 TQ gain at 5220 rpm

KN:
9.70 HP gain / ?.? TQ gain at 4330 rpm (anyone know!?)

ok, i know this topic has been brought up for several times (and i did go thru every single thread about this just now)...but still need some solid words from you guys

i wanna go for Ingen (bigger HP gains and lots of good reviews), but the only thing i am worried about is...WATER!!!!! ( i am in Seattle where pretty much rains every other day)

KN got a nice dry-charger which protects the intake better, but the thing is...DO I REALLY HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS "HYDROLOCK PROBLEM" or "INTAKE SUCKS IN RANDOM SPLASHES"? seriously, do they happen in real life!? (keep in mind that i am in Seattle...)

for people from Seattle area ( i know there are some ), what are your thoughts, help out a little boy here

thanks guys i do really appreciate it

for it to hydrolock the filter needs to be submerged somewhat. the dry charger will NOT not protect your car if you are deep in water anyways. its just a nice little feature just to keep random splashes or what not from getting into your intake.

it would be pretty hard as the bottom panel is pretty well enclosed. you might get water if you cut a vent through the fog light covers for air ventilation

That's what I did, I got the K&N because of the drycharger (and nice color) since it rains quite a bit here in VA. I vented my front *edit * fog light cover, JTso did as well. 2HP does really bother me, it sounds awesome though.

2HP is well within the margin of error between different cars on different dynos. I'm leaning towards the K&N myself.

and why is that?...due to the dry-charger that KN got, or there are some other factors making you go for KN

thanks!

Oops, corrected my post, I vented my fog light cover and put mesh grill behind it.

link to pics

Here's my pics of the venting, its very easy with a dremel. I later bought some screen door fiberglass mesh and hot glued it to the back, but no pics.

Problems? Haven't noticed anything, can't say my power is any better, but I think its still safe now and could only have gotten better.

Three reasons:
1) dry charger
2) the red is really nice
3) it's cheaper

I am going through the same thing:

K&N $202 shipped, colors (not sure if I would go for red or polished), dry charger (have heard you can get one for the injen filter)

OR

Injen $188 FREE SHIPPING!!! possible better performance.

It's totally the opposite north of the border. I had quotes where the Injen is $60 more than the K&N.

Where did you get those quotes Dan? Did you inquire about a group buy?

You can get a drycharger for the injen, if you search the forums you can find the part number from K&N. Its $30 stand alone however. Made my decision pretty easy.

I went to a couple places in the area and the cheapest I found was $380 for the K&N and $439 for the Injen. AEM was $419. Nobody wanted to do a group buy.

For those prices we would be better off with online shops.

$188 US + $15 US for shipping = $203 US = $259.68 CAD.

Now factor in about 15% in border fees and we're at $298. So we save quite a bit of money.

$30 bucks!! Yea....I got two of the drychargers for $18 a pop to fit over my Injen filter. I keep forgetting but when I get home I will get the Part # for the filtercharger and the name of the company that makes them.

I've been driving in Portland with the Injen since August (maybe). No issues with rain, puddles, etc.
