damn neo nice pics. i see you got the jdm dipstick too. i heard that thing is shorter than the stock one, so make sure you use the stock one to check your oil level.

A nice coat of black paint will do the trick to the stock dip stick.

i would clean the surface off first, rubbing alcohol?!?

makes sure to somehow cover the stick itself to not get contaminated, after all, it is going back in your motor. probably somehow find a way to prop it up w/o letting the stick touch anything, and cover it with a towel?!? i dunno..

then buy some primer. a dark one not a light one. spary just like you would spray paint - thin coats, several inches back

then let dry - better in sun, but too bad it's cold in canada now

then maybe apply another coat, make sure evenly coated.

then dry

then spray maybe two to three thin coats, leaving 15-20 min to dry between each coat. read instruction for more detail.


if you want, use clear coat.

i would buy engine spray paint - it's made for high temp.

but i would just buy the jdm dipstick, but i heard it's shorter than the oem tsx one.

the only reason i haven't bought a jdm oilstick is i like the factory orange - it matches my mugen resovoir covers

That's too much work man! What dzuy suggested is good for metal but not necessary for plastic. Just clean the surface, mask the area and spray. Let dry and apply another coat. You'll be surprised how well paint bonds to plastic. Now we are way off topic...

You can find em all over ebay for 11-15 bucks. The JDM dipstick is shorter, enough that if you looked at the dipstick to check an oil level, it will make it look like you are almost out of oil.
Just put the stock one back in for oil changes so the guys doing the work don't dork it up. They probably wouldn't even notice it's the wrong dipstick.

 

i would still use high temp paint tho.

Also warm the surface before painting for better adhesion. A heat lamp will do.

you can also powder coat the valve cover, accsuperstar powder coated his black, but i've never seen it

 

Since my original pics from the post were lost, here's an update

Installed my JDM valve cover today here's some pics for the install

Remove the intake manifold cover and spark plug cover. Unclip the spark plug coils and pull them out.





Remove the 2 screws holding in the vaccuum hose to the cover. Remove bolt in upper left and remove cover. You have to jiggle and pull a hose out of the way to get it off. Here's the head.





Pull out the gasket and push it into the new cover. Replacing and voila:
