When the Hondata dual harness was for sale, they mentioned modifying the TSX ECU so both work together, wondering what they've done differently...

Update
I had some e-mail correspondence with Doug @ Hondata today....
I started off asking if he had partnered with K-Tuned to offer a Dual ECU harness. The answer was no – infact that was the first he heard of it.
When the Hondata setup was offered, it involved sending the TSX into Hondata, where this one does not. I was interested to know what would be “missing”.
According to Doug, their setup was done through both a reflash and some physical mods to the ecu.
He also informed me:
I will wait for this...

“We turned off the cruise control because we found that its use could crash the K-Pro ECU and shut off the engine. All error codes were switched off. One reason was to keep the drive by wire system "happy". Some error codes will cause the drive by wire to go into limp mode. ”
“...we are developing a user programmable product for the TSX which will be less expensive and work better than the dual adapter. We have no time frame for its release so don't ask. I own a TSX, and we are committed to this platform. ”

I will start by telling you my car was the test mule for the K-Tuned harness. They installed one on my car 3 months ago and I drive my TSX daily.
There are zero issues with the DBW system and the car is completely happy running on the Kpro with a non-flashed oem ecu.
You gain a ton of features, but you do loose Cruise Control and VSA. Not much of a big deal for me since my VSA was constantly annoying me due to the increased power I have. (I was always turning it off)
K-Tuned gets around modifying the ECU by running 4 additional wires to the engine bay and using an aux coolant sensor. This was one of the major reasons Hondata was modifying the Kpro units. I like the fact that I don't need a modified Kpro as I am able to use the same unit from my Civic Racecar which is used only a few weekends a year.

I'll probably give hondata until the spring to come out with their user programmable option for the TSX. I would prefer this, because it will be both cheaper, and no loss of features. If it takes any longer than that, I don't know if I can justify the expense considering the remaining life of the car...

i have a '05 TSX, looking to just get a lil more pep out of it. Although it has an auto trans, would installing k-pro be my best bet? Or should I just settle with some regular bolt-on stuff (upgraded intake, header...etc). Just looking for some advice

I wouldn't buy k-pro unless you are planning to go in depth with this car. K-pro is those wanting to tune and squeeze everything out of their TSX, not just bump up power a little. Basic bolt ons would probably be what you are looking for...unless of course you have a change of heart and want to spend way too much money on a four door, four banger TSX.

So if they come out with a flashpro for the TSX, will it be a dal harness system still? And would there be a discount for those of us with the reflash? Or will it be like K-tuned where the original ecu must be stock??
