Interesting read on H&R's TSX

More of a sales pitch than anything, but still pretty cool:

"After driving a stock TSX on the street, I had very low expectations for the car on a tight autocross track. However, the precision coil overs and sway bars literally transformed this car into a track monster, all the while maintaining the civility that the stock car had."
Well gotta admit i didnt like that line, pritty much true cause I got a wheel up last time I AutoXed.... good read though, cars gotta handle awsomely

Good read

I wonder what kind of tires they were running and if they had the VSA off?

Too bad there was no mention of times vs the other cars present.

They mentioned they used R compound rubber $$$$ and I would imagine they also turned VSA off.

One thing I couldn't figure out was they said the driver did a 7000 rpm burnout, but I didn't think that's possible.

I really like the looks of this kit. I sent them an email asking for spring rate info because it doesn't seem to be posted anywhere...

The picture on King Motorsports site isn't of the real product. Here's what the kit actually looks like:

The H&R coilovers for the TSX use progressive springs, so it's not really possible to say exactly what the rates are, although they should be able to give a range.

When I called them however, they were unable to come up with any numbers.......

Also, unlike Teins or BC, it looks like the unit ships with a coil body strut and a spring only; you would have to scavenge all the uper mounts and related parts.....

Good eye, I didn't notice that. That would add a little bit of labor considering you'd now need a spring compressor to disassemble the stock units.

I emailed H&R about their coilovers not including pillow mounts and they responded with "All of our kits come complete with all the parts you need. we have designed our coil over to utilize the stock top hat." So what does that mean for ride comfort and quality? Does that make them more, less, or no different from the Tein Flex coilover setup?

It should be less rigid than the Type Flex. We're just wondering what the spring rates are.

I use R compound tires when I track my non-TSX vehicle and in general they cost LESS than a same size good quality street tire. I'm comparing Kumho Victoracer R rubber to say a Kumho MX, BFG KD, Bridgestone SO3, etc.

Dan=

I agree. I guess I was thinking of the costs of using them as street tires. Replacing them every couple of months would get expensive.

i dont like most of the competition cars looks. the huge drop with the front way down and the little wheels. makes it look like shit. the only problem with this comment is that, the little light wheels and the front drop is a sigificant performance add on. so atleast its just for competition

Why not? Of course it's possible! Not a great idea, but very possible.

I thought the rev limiter prevented burnouts above 5500rpm.

I don't try such things, but is the rev limiter only when the (MT) car is in neutral, or is it still in effect in 1st gear w/ clutch down?

There was a magazine article that had a burnout competition between a bunch of cars and they complained that they couldn't get the TSX past 5500rpm to get a good burnout going: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4720

cant do it. may sound wierd but wether your clucthed, or in the nuetral zone, you cant rev over whatever was posted, but if your driving you can rev however much you please. if im in third and redlined, and need to stop, i brake, and at the right point bounce the revs near redline for second gear.
but from low speeds, our car will not go over the posted rev, except if theyve tampered with shit

At least the european accord (TSX in states) has the rev limiter on 4500rpmīs and you canīt get higher while standing, not even with a clutch down and gear in.

Revving past 5500 from a stop by drive-by-wire. The CPU just ignores the pedal.
