installed comptech short shift

i installed the short shift today. i wish i had some warning about taking off the clips for the console, and all those little white clips holding wires in. it took me about 2 and a half hours, maybe the record for the longest installation. i did it in school mechanics on my spare.
the driving is different now.. im not sure if its any better than stock, i hope i get used to it and appreciate it more.

My Neuspeed took about the same amount of time as well. I didn't like mine much at first, but got used to it and I can't even remember the long throw anymore.

Does any of you has a feeling that the short shifter isn't snugly fit into the white plastic piece??? Cuz mine feels like i can move it slighty. And when I take a look it seems like the bottom of the Comptech short shifter doesn't touch the white piece. Is it suppose to be like that or i did something wrong???

I have the Neuspeed and it snaps in snug without free play, but moves very smoothly.

Which white plastic piece, the bushing or the arm connected to the transmission?
It reuses the bushing so that should fit the arm perfectly. As perfect as it did b4 the SS.

I'm talking about the bushing not the arm. The *new short shifter sits slightly higher so everytime i move my gear it'll have a little room to move around.
Honestly I haven't looked at it myself since someone installed it for me (my gf insisted on paying someone to do it so we could go out). At first I thought it was normal but now sometimes I have a hard time finding first.

Well if you open it up, you'll see the SS can't really move inside the bushing. Its about as tight as tight can be, the arm might be what's giving the play, mine has a slight amount. But it would never keep me from finding a gear.
