Installation of Acura Racing Pedals
Alright everyone, here is the much anticipated thread for the new racing pedals. Gotta say, having installed the JDM set, these are not only the best alternative to them, but everything was straight forward. Quality is top notch.

Installation Instructions for the 2004-2006 Acura TSX 6MT
1. You will need the following, at minimum, to complete the installation of your Acura Race pedals:
- Medium Phillips head screw driver
- Large Flat Head screw driver
- 6mm box end wrench (or 15/64 box end)
- 6mm socket wrench (or 15/64 socket)
- 2.5mm Allen key
- Power drill
- 1/8 metal drill bit
- 11/64 metal drill bit
- Center punch or scratch awl
- Hammer (optional)
![](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/389000-389999/389638_168_full.jpg)
2. Begin by removing the lower shroud below the steering column. A screw is located to the right of the steering column shroud.
3. Then remove the shroud over the pedal area. This will provide you with plenty of access for the drilling.
4. Now remove the rubber pedal guards off of your brake and clutch (on 6MT only) by simply peeling it off their metal mounting plates.
5. Remove the dead pedal by using a large flat head and prying in a downward motion with the handle. A loud pop means the compression fittings have released. You will have to pry at both the top and bottom of the dead pedal.
![](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/389000-389999/389638_167_full.jpg)
6. Do not try to remove the accelerator pedal just yet.
7. Grab your brake/clutch Acura Racing pedals or in the case the Automatic, just the brake pedal, and all of the tools mentioned above.
8. Place either the clutch (in the case of the 6MT) or the brake pedal over their corresponding location and center them.
9. Using the center punch/scratch awl, mark the location of the holes to be drilled.
![](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/389000-389999/389638_164_full.jpg)
10. Drill out the marked locations with a 1/8 drill bit.
11. Install the screws, washer and nut on the back.
12. Tighten down with the 2.5mm Allen wrench and the 6mm socket or box end (15/64 will work as well).
13. Repeat for the clutch or brake pedal for the 6MT.
![](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/389000-389999/389638_165_full.jpg)
14. With the accelerator pedal still in place, line up the Acura Race pedal and mark the location of the hole to be drilled. Make sure it is mount flush with the bottom. It will fit perfectly to the accelerator pedal and your holes will line up perfectly to areas for the nuts and washers on the rear.
15. Drilled out the holes cleanly with the 1/8 drill bit. You can see the locations of the screws below.
![](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/389000-389999/389638_166_full.jpg)
16. To make mounting the accelerator pedal easier, were going to remove it from the pivot point at its base.
17. Behind the accelerator pedal is a small button that you push towards the back of the car (note the image below). With that pushed in and with an upward pull, the accelerator pedal will dislodge from the base.
![](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/389000-389999/389638_170_full.jpg)
18. Now mount the pedal using the 2.5mm Allen wrench and 6mm (or 15/64) socket.
19. After you have secured all the pedals, remount the accelerator pedal into its correct location by simply pushing the bottom of the pedal in until you hear a clicking noise, telling you it is secured into place.
20. Mount the dead pedal in the correct location and with your center punch/scratch awl, mark the locations to be drilled.
21. Drill the locations marked with a 11/64 drill bit.
22. Using the supplied screws, screw in the dead pedal into place securely
23. Reinstall the lower shrouds in reverse order.
24. Clean up and enjoy your new Acura Racing pedals!!!!
![](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/389000-389999/389638_169_full.jpg)
In the interest of openness, I do have a note into Dave letting him know the screws for the dead pedal are just short of screwing into my drilled holes. For now, they are bound tightly into the carpet, but because the holes fall perfectly into indentions on the dead pedal mount, the screws fall short. Alternatively, if you scoot up the dead pedal by 1/2", those screws would work just fine. I like my dead pedal all the way down, thus the screws fall short.
Again, these pedals are DAMN nice and well worth the $$$.![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Knox will post up some other pics for the AT installation.

I have to adapt because the stock ones are easy to slide your heal against the accel for the blip not to mention I have only tested the heel toe on the parked car with these pedals. I will know in the morning for sure.

I can definitely say this is a HUGE improvement over the stock pedals. Much more secure grip and these pedals are so perfectly shaped to fit the TSX.... they're just incredibly made!! The plate and pad are much thicker than the JDM set. Love these as much as I love my short shifter and bushing set (shifter base and tranny set).

Just learned that you can alternatively mount the dead pedal right on top of the OEM one.
Downside: If you want to return to stock, you'll have holes in your dead pedal and accel pedal. Not so noticeable on the accel pedal (only 1/8") but I'm guessing more noticeable on the dead pedal.
Upside: Much easier install by drilling into the OEM dead pedal.
I'll be headed to the hardware store later to locate a screw long enough to mount them the way I demonstrated above and will pass that info on to Dave.
What I think would be of benefit is to find out how many people would care to have the longer screws or if everyone is okay with drilling into their OEM dead pedal (only $3 to replace anyway), then speak up so he doesn't have to repackage new screws for our application.

BTW, how are the lettering and symbols applied? Are they just stamped on or are they etched?

They are etched/engraved into the metal. Top quality.

I agree. I think Dave is going ahead an including them anyway. I just have to give him the "okay" that the extra 1/2" is enough.

Sorry Guys this questions was asked months ago and everybody Liked the branding. Its to late to change now. The pedals you see are the final product. As ryan said I am working adding some hardware to the kit to give you multiple install options.

Update: I just went and got 4 #10 1 1/4" screws, just like those in the pic and they are the perfect size, so Dave is going to ship this new size with the kits that so everyone can save their OEM dead pedal from being drilled.

awesome write-up ryan, def looking into these pedals...
do you mind takin a pic of the pedals before you get into the driver's seat - kind of a first-person view from outside next to the driver-side door
curious how the difference is at that view rather than seeing the pedals straight in your face.

This is a little lower than driver's perspective, but the best I could do at night.

I've finally got the heel/toe back under control. Because there is so much of a soft feel, I was pushing harder on the brake pedal while blipping the gas, but its all back now.
Again, LOVE THESE PEDALS. I was paying close attention today to see if the A on the clutch and brake was noticable. It is not at all from the drivers perspective. Of course, if you duck your head under there, you will see it.
