Injen Intake Filter Oiling
Injen Intake Filter Oiling
I have two questions:
#1: I've heard the Injen CAI's filter is actually a k&n filter with an injen name on it, is this true?
#2: If it is a k&n filter, it will need to be oiled, as all k&n filters do! What exactly is the process of oiling these filters, can you put too little or too much on? Its never been explained much on here (that i could find by searching), and the installation instructions for the injen on here and hardcopy don't mention anything about having to oil the filter when you're done installing it.
I just installed the injen in SRI mode in my car, so I am just curious whether i need to oil this filter right away?
Thanks alot

Nooo... you aren't supposed to do that
.Get the K&N filter cleaning set, it comes with cleaner and oil.
Don't use WD40 on the filter

By the way, I installed the intake in SRI mode this evening, and it sounds pretty mean. I definitely like it, no noise when you're cruising, but it growls when you want it to. Even in SRI mode I can feel a small increase in pull once I get to about 3000 rpms. Not much, but worthwhile. The real reason I got it was to get that quiet engine to make a bit of sound, and for the look of it. Great advice guys on the other threads, about whether to buy intake or not though guys!!
So is it ok to use WD40 on "foam filters" like Monster Flow? I've heard another member say that it's ok, that's why I've used it...

I've also heard that the foam filters don't filter the air as well as the k&n one's too though, but again that could just be people talking...
For that I know, I did my own
hairdryer test on both K&N and Monster Flow filter, and the Monster Flow seemed to let air through more evenly. With the outside foam having bigger pores, I can see why some more particles will pass through. But on the inside there is another layer of filter, and it has a lot finer grain pores, so in terms of filtration, it's a debate unless someone can come up with any charts. Performance wise, my lil test showed Monster Flow having greater air flow, so I'll just have to hope it also does the filtering job correctly
