due to the location of the bracket, I am pretty sure everyone will have a punctured hoodliner over time if they leave this thing on.

Couldn't you put some kind of black square patch over the spot where it's rubbing? Not that you should have to, but if the patch is made of something durable it should solve the problem right?

That should work. I don't think the bracket's getting through to metal at all, it would be very audible if it was.

Honestly if the hood liner fitment was the only issue I was having, I would have left the ETD on. It seems minor to me.

It is minor.. that liner is pretty thick.. there is no way its gonna purtrude thru to the hood..

I'm happy with mine, but then again, as you can see in my first post on this page... I'm not having any of the other fitment issues that you guys are having...

Progress

Ok, so I have taken all of your issues and I have made some adjustments to my engine bracket. So far I have removed about 1/8" for the UR pulley clearance and I have shaved off about 3mm for the abs motor to clear. Here are some pics:

UR Clearance:

ABS Clearance:

Hood Liner Clearance:

UR Cut:

Deburred and leveled off:

ABS Clearance Shaved:

I didn't go as drastic as I have inteded with my line, because I saw most people were rubbing by sheer mm of space, however; I will probably fine tune it.

This was about an hour and a half of work with a dremmel. I will install this weekend and post results. Just thought some of you may be interested!

hypothetically, if ingalls didn't provide a solution and i had to go the grinding route, could i take this thing to a home depot and get it done there?

i don't have a grinder. or a dremel. and don't want to have to sand it by hand.

Probably not at home depot but a metal working shop you could. But it would cost your more probably than just buying a Dremmel and DIYing it

pics of grinding for clearance

clee109, I'm afraid you're grinding the wrong area for UR clearance. check my pics below:

bummer, oh well, I couldn't see as well through other peoples pictures. Should have fitted it first, none the less I'll notch it like you did tomorrow. What about the ABS cylinder, did you get that to fit right??? Or is the battle still worth it there? lol I feel stupid now.

Mine has enough space on all sides, but the ur pulles is about this close to the bracket _
Lucky no damage yet the engine doesnt push into the pulleys.

2005 6MT, UR Pulleys, adjusted to full stiffness 10mm
No ABS clearance issues.
RPM-dependent whine, especially noticeable in lower gears (as reported by other members)
Engine bracket dents the hood lining.

I also have very little clearance with the UR pulley, going to have to grind it.

Interested to what Ingalls solution to this will be, and how quickly they can crank it out. I'm interested in this mod, but not if it's going to be months.

I messed around with adjusting mine the other day, and the stiffest setting with the AC on is unbearable. It vibrates so much, you have to start revving it up while you are idling at a stop light because it drives you crazy... so I had to adjust to back down.

But I couldn't' tell any difference besides that from 14mm to 10mm adjustment. I think I might go to 15 today just to make it even softer (since it doesn't seem to make any noticeable performance difference other than cause less vibrations).

Tried it installing on two cars check if we had the same issues as others.

Trial fitting was on a 04 6MT (stock pulleys) and 06 6MT (UR Pulleys)

Problems experienced:

*upper bracket cutting into AC lines
*Lower bracket rubbing against ABS
*Lower bracket needing clearance with UR pulley

There were clearance issues every where and we decided not to install them and wait for a response from Ingalls rather than modding brackets. Quality of products is good but not accurate even on a stock car.

I must say Im very surprised about how these ETD kits have turned out given Ingalls make some great products.

Anyway I'll wait like the rest of us for a response/solution.

I spoke to Ingalls again the other day. They are primarily concerned with the ABS and A/C line issues. The hood liner issue is also being addressed. The engineers said they need about another week to address the situation. The engineer specifically said, " We need at least another week to fully understand the problems with this kit."

I will keep you all updated as I get updates.

Its funny because if you go back to page 4 and view the pictures, you see no problems. And you can also see the clearance of the ETD and stock pulley. We saw this way in advance!

Do you reckon they would be willing to ship out the new brackets to us who are overseas without needing for us to return the old brackets?

As with anything modded you have to modify and get it fitted just right and for the last one I don't have the UR pullies so no comment but I would assume just maybe cut or grind a piece to clear it here is a solution for the first 2 stated problems so that is what I did and this would not weaken the bracket or anything.

Ok the only problem I experience with the Ingalls ETD is the chasis bracket hitting the lower AC line other than that the ETD it is a simple installation. I also swap the Ingalls bolts for some zince plated bolts and swap the bolt the other way around because the Ingalls longer bolt will hit the black ABS lines and I added a 1/4" spacer to make the ETD parallel to the valve cover. I can see in those pics of for you guys with the UR pulleys that is such a tight fitment. The only solution is to trim off the engine bracket so that would give it some clearance but it is still DIY nothing big deal. Mine works like a charm and everything clears nothing touching anything. Here is a couple of pics of my ETD setup.

i installed mine last night... no issues or noise.
i havent measure how much adjustment im at.. i just adjusted it so that the bolt will lign up with the engine mount...
the stiffness is fair. my steeringwheel vibrates at red lights.. after the other fan turns on..

only problem i have noticed right now.. just tonight.. when im crusing on the highway 65-70mph.. im not sure if its when i hit bumps or not.. seems pretty random.. i can feel the motor back down.. and its a very odd feeling like im not giving it enough gas or something.. feels like i'd have to downshift to keep the car flowing smoothly... o and btw this is at about 3k or right under....

has anyone else had this problem or any ideas what may be wrong with my setup??? please respond asap!

I've been out of the country and haven't had the chance to look at mine yet. This seems like an easy solution for Ingalls to fix.

If anything, they'll probably just located the chassis bracket bolt lower by a few mm, take some off the top of the bracket. Two things happened here IMO.

1. The test vehicle's engine mount was compressed some
2. The gauges/measuring equipment/CNC were not calibrated or in some way caused a mismeasurement.

It would be one thing to have a miss on a few, but even this population of 50 ppl is a bit much.

I haven't had that problem.. but I know you shouldn't have to adjust the heim joint end bolts to make it fit, it should just fit right it. I would check the measurement, keep it at the stock 14mm (it seems the best after all my testing with down to 10 and back up to 15mm).

I had to adjust/extend mine for it to line up as well. Since all their 'stiffy' products probably use the same damper unit, it's not surprising that it may not line up when we receive it.

I installed my ETD over the long weekend. I left it on the stock stiffness setting. I loved the way it felt while driving, but I hated the way it vibrated while idling. The day before I installed it I had to get gas and the gas station I was at was out of both 93 and 89 so I was forced into getting 87. Then today I had to get gas (93 octane) and it seems like as soon as I filled up my car it stopped rattling. It vibrates more the stock but not nearly as much as it did with the 87 octane.

I was contemplating reducing the stiffness to reduce some of the vibration, but now I might wait and see how it feels after I run through a tank or two of 93 octane. My $0.02….

Hello everyone,

I am extremely disappointed with this ETD. This many problems should not be occurring especially near critical components such as ABS lines. I will be removing this tomorrow and taking pictures of the damage that the hood liner has now.

Stay tuned!

Thanks!
