I want to reflash.
i really want to reflash my car, i have a 2006 auto. I am from delaware and i find it so hard to do. I know you send it in and stuff like that but im scared to take my ecu out and my immobilizer. I wish there was a way i could just take it to a shop and they can handle it for me. All i hear is is good things about reflash.. i hope all i hear is correct.

I got mine through Club RSX and I shipped everything out and it was back in two days. It was really fast and worth it. I was scared to ship it too but I just wrapped it with lots of bubble wrap. It is really easy to take everything out with the instructions from Hondata. This was the first time I did anything to my car myself and it was really easy.

Let me help you!
If a shop does it for you, they'll simply do what you can do yourself...take the ecu and immobilizer out, and ship it out for you. Basically you're paying someone to do something which is simple and free for you to do yourself. Just make sure you take your time and wrap your equipment well.

Isn't the price the same, if you take it to a Hondata dealer or do it yourself?

If I can do it anyone can
I had the ECU reflashed on my 2006 Auto TSX. If I can take out and reinstall the ECU and immobilizer anyone can.
I'm a 61 year old duffer with limited mechanical experience. I was very nervous about taking parts out of a brand new car I'd only had a couple of months.
The results have been very gratifying. No faster 0-100; but takes off no matter where you are on the Tach/torque curve. So accelerating away from any rolling speed is always brisk. See my other posts to get a better idea of all the stuff I've now done

I believe it will NOT affect your gas millage. It will still depend on the way you drive.

the shop i tried to get my reflash done at only charged 20 bucks more to do all the leg work from what the price of the ecu was.
i thought that was well worth it. check into the prices... might not be as much as you think to have a shop do it.

Just got mine back from Hondata yesterday...boy, does it make a world of difference. This thing is much more responsive, power all throughout the band, and just makes it feel like a totally different car. Much more fun to drive. Mine is a 06 Auto. I have the K&N Typhoon CAI as well, thinking about getting the Comptech Header as it seems that they are coming back into business.
My suggestion is GET IT, don't wait any longer!!!

I'm probably not the most well qualified to answer this but here goes. A reflash is where the car's ECU (engine control unit) is reprogrammed to unlock some extra hp and torque from the engine. Not sure all of the changes that the engineers at hondata made but for a start the vtec point is dropped 1 k rpm so it hits earlier, about 500 rpm is added to the car's rev limit, and fuel mapping and air fuel ratios are tweaked to get more performance out of the engine. With a reflash, there is no way for the costumer to change the way the ECU operates, unlike with the K-pro. A k-pro system consists of a reflashed ECU and another piggy back ECU that can be connected to a computer and programmed by the user. The piggy back ECU just handles certain engine characteristics while the main ECU handles everything else such as ABS systems. So basically one is a better engineered engine control schema, and the other is a fully programmable ECU.
