Hondata Reflash

This topic has been discussed in other threads but I figured it needs it's own thread cuz I realize a lot of people want to know about this. So I copied my post here:

These are the guys I took the car to for the HONDATA REFLASH. They are licensed dealers from Comptech & got like 7 NSX's sitting in their shop, so they must know their shit. They take the car to some HONDATA guy in Torrance. I couldn't ride along. They're really secretive about their reflash. I't took about 30-45 min to do it. Overall I waited about 3 hrs. I asked why Comptech doesn't recommend a reflash & why you get dick for power without any type of reprograming. Autowave said Comptech could not support that kind of reprograming because their is a teenie handfull of people in the states that can do the reflash. Hondata requires the car at their shop in torrance, CA. No fly-ins or fed-ex'ing you ECM's to Hondata!
...............................factory setting......Hondata Reflash
Rev limit.....................6800 rpm...............7200 RPM
V-tec active...............4700 rpm............... 3000 RPM.

They told me these values & it's printed on the receipt. I can feel it, cuz after 3000 rpm, it feels like the car want's to take off!

Runs REALLY smooth. Before the reflash the car would surge, specially on hot days under the sun when I half-gas it. today, stop & go, in the sun, it ran smooth, no surges! Then again, I'm not as modded as some of u guys. I'm only pushing the s/c & pro-cats.

The new rev limit is great too, now I got a wider power band. I can hit about 110-115mph in third!

Cost was $600 + $125 for Autowave to take my car over to Hondata = $725

If you want it for a better price, better service, and the place hondata tunes cars get a hold of Church Automotive Testing - 300 Quay Ave. Wilmington, CA 90744 310-518-4966....

This place works on all cars, ALL hondata cars and tuning is done at Church. Also you will be charged I believe it is $600 or 650... Either way you save money, and most likely they come to you.
Call Church up and let them know Michael with the 06 red tl supercharged sent you.
best to email them.
http://home.earthlink.net/~spchurch/...motivetesting/
nice people.

Autowave is hmmmm just ok... The $125 is just to much profit to drive my car to hondata...
It's your money...

Thanks for the input.
I knew there was someone out there that can compete w/ pricing & service for this. I'll look them up next time. So the reflash I got from torrance is pretty much the same price, but I had to pay a third party to drive my car there! oh, well. non-the-less. still one happy-ass-suped-tl driver!

Don't be skurrrred.... look; u got all this great info on ur lap. The main goal is to be able to take ur car to someone to tune ur car's computer once u install the s/c (hondata reflash, e-manage, etc). Don't expect to drop 5k & magically have a s/c'd tl. Get ready to shell out over 1k for install, unless u do it yourself (many people, including myself have) & 600-700 for reflash. & REALLY...that's it! If all goes, well, you're install is 100% correct, fuel pressure regulator is crushed right, & you got someone that is capable of reflashing ur ecm, you should get every hope & dream from ur super charger. But remember, it's only about 60 whp gain....so don't expect to crap ur pants when you mash the gas pedal, either!

I don't know what they use. But it's something that allows them to plug & play will all engine parameters. I think my car gulps down gas now, so I'm sure they change the fuel mapping also. Someone out there must have more details on this. Autowave & Hondata seem to want to keep their technique a secret.

..and you'll get to hear it with the custom intake. Once you hear it now, you'll definitely go for the gold and get one of these puppies underneath your hood. You're already got the comptech exhaust right?

...i'll be in Orlando again from the 4th thru the 8th for HIN so we'll get up.

Now you've gone and done it. Should we start taking wager's on how many more posts it will take before someone comes on here asking how this will effect..."The "T-word" mod....? LOL!

PS - Glad to hear that someone is actually moding the ECM now...
PPS - Isn't 110 in third pretty "normal" though? I realize you probably get there quicker but don't non-modded TL's get to 110 in third?

Please do some dyno and zero to 60's on this and compare before ECM and after.
WOuld be interesting to see if the ECm bumps up the HP from the 50's to a more desireable 80-100HP level...

I'll wager it happens with in the next 6 posts from this one...

Now that I think of it, I hit 115 & dropped it to 4th in auto-stick, before the rev limiter hit....but it was close!

I dunno if it it'll be any use to a N/A TL... the hondata reflash was used to ensure I got ALL gains possible from the s/c. But I'm sure anyone can benefit form the new v-tec/rev-limit settings. Give em a call, I'm sure they'll tell you. But DON'T waste ur money if you plan on boosting in the future.. just wait to get it done afterwards.

ok, just got word from Doug (Hondata reflash designer) The reflash can be installed on an N/A TL, but no gains are guarranteed. He has seen 10HP gain & zero hp gain. The reflash is specifically designed to work with the supercharger. Save your money! Then Get boosted!

Doug says he's developing some type of simulator that will allow him to receive ECU's & reflash them. No word yet on when this will be in effect. I'm sure he'll keep everyone posted on Acurazine & Hondat.com. So all u non-Cali'ens hang in there!!!

Auxiliary ATF cooler, needs to be custom installed on our car, there is no plugnplay kit. Can be any universal cooler similar to this one here,

http://www.comptechusa.com/store/560030tl.html

goes to the front in between the bumper, custom plumbing, probable $300 tops for everything!

Bernard1973: what are you talking about? I as many others have had the flash done by hondata. Hondata came to the dyno, dyno my car before, and after with all the electrical wires and flash my ecu. I saw the power/tq gain, plus many other goods it came with. You sound mad as if you have a problem with your car, supercharger, or trying to get a flash and cant?.... For a FACT I have a reflash on my 06 tl with the supercharger!

For all the other members, hondata is still trying to gather all the electrical wires and all for a flash by sending it in. As of right now Hondata has to come to your car (local) and dyno/tune/flash it in person.
I for one will put the HBP on as soon as USSI gets his car 'tuned' with the hbp and bigger injectors etc if needed.
