I should have not done the Hondata reflash
I turned in my ECU to one of the so called 'Hondata dealers' in Oregon. I thought I would get it back by Wednesday with the overnight shipping. Remember I pay for the Hondata dealer to ship overnight to Hondata and also to have it shipped overnight back to the dealer. Why is Hondata choose to do it this way instead of shipping it directly to the consumer? I don't know. Anyways, I was told today that it would take until Friday to get my ECU back. WTF? I thought it takes Hondata a day to flash the ECU, I'm I correct? Anyways, I will not do this again. Taking the car apart and sending away the part. To those who consider doing the Hondata reflash please aware that my experience could happen to you. BTW, if you're living in Oregon I wouldn't go to any of the HOndata dealers either. They suck.

What I was told you should do is send it to one of the Dealers in California... I forget which one, but its about 5 minutes down the street from Hondata Headquarters... Apparently that is the fastest way to get it done
Sorry its taking so long for you to get your ECU back... and im sure its stressfull as hell having the most important part of your car being shipped all over the country... but My money would be on you being pretty damn happy with the results the first time you hit that lowered Vtec point....

I used a place that gave me either a label that ships directly to Hondata or I get to ship to Hondata myself. So I didn't have to ship to anyone but Hondata and they shipped back to me. It took exactly 3 days. 1 day to ship to them, 1 day for them to reflash and put back into the FedEx system. Next day I get it. I highly recommend this place as it is the least expensive one as well as great service. They are actually thinking of lowering their price for the reflash even more.

When I got my 04 reflashed, I went through Epic Motoring in Torrance, which is literally down the street from Hondata's facility. Their turnaround time was exactly as I expected. And from the experiences that other people had, they ship directly to Hondata and the turnaround was exactly 3 days as well. Don't know what happened with your ECU.

Is the reflash being done to your S2k or TSX? If its the S2k, then let me know what you think after the reflash - I've got an 06 and have been contemplating it. I've read a lot of positive reviews here on the TSX forums regarding their Hondata flashs' and hoping that the S2k version is just as good.

But yea...Epic is basically down the street from Hondata.

Here is the update from HOndata. They just received my ECU today. WTF? I gave it to the Hondata dealer on Monday. I don't understand why it took them that long to get it to HOndata. Remember, I paid for it to be shipped overnight. Thumb down for HOrsepower Freaks in Oregon.

^^ If you have an 05AT, I don't think there is any new news.
Yeah, I definitely blame it on the dealer. They probably lagged on shipping and might not have even ordered overnight shipping. I would call Hondata and make sure that your ECU is being shipped back via overnight shipping. Hopefully that performance shop didn't cheap out on that too.

Why does Hondata use this dealer setup anyway? In my case, the dealer just sent me couple UPS labels. That could be done by Hondata online, what's the point of doing it through a dealer? I'm sure the dealer's getting a cut from the $595 and, in this case, having some negative impact on Hondata's business. What do they have to gain from this arrangement?

Here is an email from the dealer. I'm so dissapointed from this experience.
Kelvin,
It looks like there was a mix up in the shipping department. This went
out yesterday, they received it today. Hondata told me we will have it
by Friday.
When you come in to pickup the ECU I will credit you for some of the
shipping.
If you have any questions please give me a call or email.
Thanks,

Hi Mike, I just checked with Hondata and they said that they just
received
the ECU today. Can you tell me what's going on here? I paid for it
shipped
overnight to Hondata. This was supposed to be done on Monday. Why did it
take 3 days to get to HOndata? Please explain.

instead of just getting refunded SOME of the shipping you should be refunded ALL of the shipping since they messed up and didnt even inform you of it until you contacted them about it.

Well, I finally got my ECU back today after calling them several times. When I came to the office the guy that was helping me didn't even know about the screw up and almost charged me the full price. I told him what happened and that I was expecting a partial refund in my shipping. The guy told me that he didn't have the authority to do it and he had to contact the manager You would think after what happened to my shipment they would at least either leave a note about the shipping discount or have the guy who I talked to on the phone help me finalize the transaction. Anyways, I got the ECU back home and spent another 30 minutes putting everything back in place. I also removed the resonator in the process. After 20 minutes of driving I could feel the car definitely pulled a lot harder than before. It's also a bit louder I guess due to the missing resonator For some reason, I only got 15.5 mpg vs 21.5 before. I hope this is temporarily. Unless I have to do other calibration??Does anyone know? Overall, I'm still pissed off at the whole thing.

if you've only had the reflash for a day it's more likely that the crappy average mpg over a very short time is b/c you did several power runs. on the highway you shouldn't notice much if any difference as the reflash doesn't change anything for part throttle conditions.

I'm confised... You did what is clearly a performance mod and your bitching about MPG? If you are really worried about gas mileage you should have purchased a Prius.
Oh and another thing, I feel sorry for Horsepower Freaks for having to deal with you.

Of course when I first got it, my fuel economy tanked because I kept revving the engine to feel the new VTEC point. However, after several tankfuls of gasoline, I have found that my fuel economy to actually be better than before.
