I need help with headers

My 2 choices for headers are:
  • Comptech Headers (w/ Greddy Evo exhaust)
  • Weapon-R-race header (w/ Greddy Evo exhaust)
From my understanding the Weapon-R-race headers produces more HP. Unfortunate most posts on here suggest that the race headers are not a good idea for the TSX. And I also noticed only very few people had the Weapon R race header.

Should I really stay away from the Weapon R race header?

Please help

I'm sure you could run both, but Comptech's quality can't be beaten.

I'd go with the CT-E header: better quality, construction, and material. And then combine that with a good high flow cat.

The quality of the CT header can't be beaten by weapon R.
But if you look at it from a budge perspective it it could be pretty costly, because you'll eventually want an additional high flow cat or test pipe.

There isn't anything wrong with running a test pipe on the car. I'm actually planning on installing my test pipe pretty soon.

Go for the CT if you are not on a budget and don't want want to run a test pipe.
Go for the Weapon R if all you want is the most power for the buck.

Yes, there is.

I would rather get the Weapon R headers (even though they aren't at the same level as the CT), and have the extra cash to get a good cat back system. Everyone makes it sound like Weapon-R is crap lol... when it isn't I have a lot of Weapon-R products on my car. IDK I enjoy getting more for my money, than just being able to brand drop when I am talking about my car. If it gets the job done efficiently, and at a reasonable price to me... why would I go for something more expensive when the money could go elsewhere.....

Just my logic

You could check out a few sites for headers. The guys I run with on drautomotive.com always have taken care of me though. I got my Weapon-R secret intake from them, and had some issues with damage to the filter. They made it right for me in no time.... so, I recommend them whenever you are looking at Weapon-R stuff.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Now Im considering the DC sports headers instead of the CT headers due to rattling issues with the CT headers

I'm also still interested in the Weapon-R-race headers but lots of reviews are sugesting that these headers are not a good fit with our TSX

I wouldn't do the DC. Go with the CTE The vibration is really no big deal and you may not even get it. I had it, but once I put my exhaust on it went away completely.

What's the downside of the DC headers? From temple of VTEC's analysis (http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-ar...icle_id=348704]) the gains are pretty much the same low-mid rpm until you go up to high rpms where the CT-E header outperforms it by a bit.

I've thought about choosing one or the other as well, but I can't justify paying almost 2x the price for a CT-E header for the little bit of added gain.

Unless someone has experienced problems with DC headers other than the hissing flex-pipe issue. That can be remedied easily by asking a muffler shop to weld on a new flex-pipe for less than $80 I believe.

Are there issues with DC header's durability vs. CT-E's?

I'm not arguing from a performance stand-point, but rather quality. I had a couple of DC Headers in the old days (1996-2000) on various Civics. IMO, DC are junk. I'm not knocking those you have them, I'd just rather buy one header and be done with it. Of the three DC headers I had, one cracked, one rusted to hell and the other was absolutely fine.
If top performance and top quality is what you want go with Hytech. If you want a decent gain with top notch quality I would highly recommend the CT-E.

I've been trying to do some research on some headers too. Is it just me or are the CT headers very hard to find now. There doesn't seem to be any headers that haven't had problems. CT headers I have heard a lot of problems with rattling and what not and also heard that the DC headers have had problems with the flex pipe, and the reason I got the tsx in the first place was because its reliable and stays out of the shop.

^The vibration problem with the CT-E header is really no big deal. More of and annoyance then anything. Mine went away once I added the WS2 exhaust. When I bought my CT-E header I had to wait for a batch to be built as there were none readily available. Totally worth the wait though.

I was looking at the WS2 also but for now it would probably be one or the other. Mechanically though have there been any issues with the CT headers? I haven't been able to find them anywhere.

^Nope. I've had my CT-E header on now for several years without any issues.
