Back on topic, he should have a bunch of info, a list of parts and prices by now. We went to Hytech together when he made the deal with John.

Oh and btw, I'm patiently waiting for my header and cat, soon to be followed by the cams/springs/retainers and the Hondata re-flash.

I live in Michigan, my job is nationwide. I'll be in 24 major markets in the next 3 months. I'm in windy and cold as hell Boston as we speak, a little different from the west coast........

Ha, yeah, well....

I was at Hondata with Chad. He knows it is legit. I am just waiting for pics and pricing from Hytech so I can make a FS post. There is nothing teaser about this. Just working your patience out.

Trust me, the power is real. The numbers are to the wheels. It is legit.

CT supercharger whp 244 hp 189 lb-ft => crank 287 hp and 222 lb-ft

C'mon man, this again? What does that statement even mean? 260/210 is FLYWHEEL horsepower and torque using the SAE correction method. It couldn't be any easier to see than at the top of dyno graph on post#71 of this thread.

With all due respect, there is a huge difference between crank and wheel power numbers, I don't understand why you keep mixing this up.

I'd be interested to see the actual performance gains to be had from the header/exhaust combo on an otherwise relatively stock TSX.

I understand that they are realistically not designed to be added to a stock vehicle and generate much power, but I'm curious none the less.

On a semi-related note, my friend just picked up a new exhaust/cat bypass setup for his Diablo and the price wasn't much more than the HyTech stuff we're discussing here.

Comptech is out of business, but their dyno graphs are still up. This will give you a general idea. This is with their intake too though. I wouldn't expect the Hytech stuff to be much different than this.

Mirror- I'll have to disagree with you... Even though the dynos from Church's state 'flywheel' at the top, it is actually power measured at the hubs, instead of the wheels. While tuning my HyTech set-up, I've personally had my car dynoed on that actual machine many times, and it DOES NOT measure flywheel horsepower. The drive wheels are taken off the car and the Dynopack is mounted to the hubs of the car.

As a result, dynopacks read slightly higher than dynojets. Take a look at the hondata 'tuning the TSX' article. Their stock baseline dyno (all dynos in this article were done on church's dynopack) came up with 184hp, 165tq. These obviously are not flywheel measurements.

You can also use my HyTech thread as a reference for the possibilities of this set-up. I made 211hp, 191tq at the hubs w/ just HyTech header & Exhaust, Comptech Icebox, 45degree VTC, and Hytech reflash.

One more thing to add. I think everyone on this thread is missing the point, and focusing on 'peak' power figures. From my experiences with this set-up and the results of countless dyno runs, the gains here are had under the curve, where it really matters under daily driven conditions.

I'm not saying it does. I'm saying it takes power measured at the wheels (or hubs in this case), and corrects it to spit out a flywheel power figure.

In any case, its not a straight measured whp figure (or hhp figure in this case). That's my beef.

Ah, I just took a look at your Hytech thread. Wow, those really are some nice looking products!

Anyway, I notice that on your dyno sheets they also say Flywheel hp and Flywheel torque, again quoting the SAE correction method. Is that true or do they just say that by default on the Dynapack dyno output sheets?

Best,
-Mirror

OK when in doubt, go to the source itself!

I just couldn't get my head around the power figures being quoted, so I called Dynapack themselves to sort out just what's being displayed.

Comptech measured their power outputs on a Dyno Dynamics roller dyno. The Dynapack being used by the HyTech modifiers (like Shaang) is a hub dyno as prieviously stated.

The dyno graphs being quoted show SAE corrected flywheel horsepower at the top. These are actually two things that aren't directly related, I found out. The "flywheel" number being quoted is actually what's being measured at the hubs, taken from a raw measurement and then calculated for what gear is being used. The SAE correction actually refers to temperature, humidity, etc.

So, I got that wrong guys, apologies!

Take a look at the graph on page 3. At the bottom there is a box for 'TCF'. In this graph its labelled 1.0. That means there is no drivetrain loss calculation being used. If there was a drivetrain loss calculation being used, it would read 1.13, or 1.11, or something else to denote 13%, or 11%, or whatever is desired.

Wrapping it all up, Comptech figured that there was a 12-13% drivetrain loss with the roller dyno. Taking the wheels and tires out of the equasion for the Dynapack, you could probably figure around 10% or so for the dynapack. That would put the ACTUAL flywheel HP and torque quoted by heeltoe at 276/231.

So, I'll formally apologise to both Mr. heeltoe and Shaang for my inaccurate comments about the measurements. Sorry! I had it wrong.

No matter how you slice it, those are staggering numbers, especially for the torque per liter.

Yes, glad it has been sorted out

I can't wait until my header is done! Then cams (springs and retainers), and the Hytech reflash!

ok so all the dyno from hondata website are to the wheel also?

Then it's all over rated....

I doubt anyone could get this # with just intake, header, and hondata

All the Hondata and Hytech data we have here are from the same dyno at the same place.

How is it over rated? The number is huge, and I promise it is legit.

Here is one of the TSX race engines:
