How often do you change your Tranmission Oil?

I hate reading the manual so if anyone has been through this please spread some light on me...

How often do you guys change your tranmission oil?
And what are some of the recommend brands that are out there?

I'm hitting 30k soon, so it will be on my hit list eventually.

5AT every 1.5 or 2 years, or every 3 or 4 oil changes if your driving is all city. It may sound excessive, but it will prevent any problems arising from the buildup of gunk in the AT fine mesh strainer.

i cant believe when i saw the fluid, too damn dirty and looked nasty.. my car is roughly 1.5 year old.. and just reached 15k miles.
Yea, the manual should mention to change the fluid every 15k/1.5 year not on 30k mark..

Pfft....30K - UK and European Accords are 75K before supposedly needing done.
Similarly, radiator coolant - 100K!
Must say, sitting here with 80K showing and the temp gauge sits 15-20º before vertical, so I guess they must be right.

I'm from UK and have to say the drain plug is on a different side than on the TSX so it maybe a slightly different box on the UK accords. However my car has 48K and when i did the transmission it did look nasty! was black! and had black small black flakes..was glad i did it.....high speed shifting was getting a bit notchy...it's back to silky smooth again..even with the shortshift installed.

I change mine every 25k miles, about half the time the manual calls for. It's fairly cheap and changing it more often makes me happy. I use Amsoil Synchromesh MTF, works like a charm and cheaper than the Honda MTF (which has an excellent reputation, though). Brake fluid flushed at 40k (2 yrs), coolant I'm planning on leaving in for the recommended interval, but I test it every year.

The coolant lasts a long time unless contaminated or if there is a leak.

It's on the same side. When the TSX owners refer to the driver's side, it means the car's front left. For us with the RHD Accord UK/Euro, it's the passenger side, which is still the same front left corner.

I changed my 6MT transmission at 20,000km (12,500 miles) and it was already black and thick. After sitting for a while in the drain pan, you could see the bottom 1/2 was black while the top half was a nice clean gold colour. The running in of the gearbox does produce a lot of worn metal particles.

5AT: Honda/Acura ATF. It is a MUST
6MT: Honda/Acura MTF. Synchromesh fluid also works, as long as you get stuff for brass synchros.

Ahh, so the TSX drain plug is on the inside face of the tranny. I wonder why?
