Hondata Called me
To all the 5AT
Did anyone off you guys/gals get a phone call from Hondata???????
I was really suprised when the guy (Daug) told me that he was calling from Hondata (310 -782-xxxx). he is one of the programmers (should I believe that..only GOD knows)
He wanted to know my Opinion on the 5AT. At first I was concerened, I asked him is there something I should know or something will happen? His response was we are gathereing info from the 5AT owners.
Question:
1. Reaction before and after Hondata?
A: Everybody knows the answer here. The best bang of the buck and blah blah blah
2. Any regrets?
A. None..blah blah
Question to him: What did you reflash to increase the performance?
A: 1. lowered the VTEC
2. increased fuel injection
3. increased the cam opennings
And then, we just had a big chat about the performance of the car on the highway and the regualr day to day driving (including gas mileage).blah blah blah
Some part of the conversation, he did mention me to get the header installed, but then I asked him, will this fix the hesitation? The answer: this is a known issue with the auto but if you make ur car breath easier then u might see some improvements.
Ohh I did ask him for any new future products? the answer, we are reasearching more and the TSX engine has a lot to offer in terms of performance wise.
After the phone call, I was more concerned about the hondata, what if there is something wrong in the future, will hondata use it against me coz I was praising loud and clear on the phone about the performance ???????
But then, it can only be a survey thing.

I haven't gotten a phone call or anything.
IMO, the hesitation is definitely a problem with hondata and a CAI intake.
It is far less noticeable with a short ram intake.
I'm wondering if the hesitation is almost gone with a Comptech Icebox and Hondata.
Headers helped the hesitation a lot, but didn't eliminate it.

Yes, it was me who called. I can assure you that the end of the world is not nigh. Apart from general feedback I was looking for information on AT reflash performance. One of the users here reported and dynoed a loss in power. We are trying to track this down and one of the avenues is to talk to recent owners.
The hesitation you refer to largly perceptual. Take a look at the dyno chart:
You will find the torque increases a little shortly after 5000 rpm (VTEC). This kick is felt as a hesitation. If you compare this the torque curve before the reflash you are ahead everywhere.
The mapping is the same for both the auto and the manual, so the "hesitation" must have something to do with the transmission. I could have tuned it out so it was smoother, but that would have resulted in less than maximum power.
