I did something similar, but my filter wasn't set up as a cold air. I detached the top of my air filter box, inserted a 3 inch small plastic pipe at the end of the hose and attached a aftermarket air filter to that. I should've bought a K&N filter on second thought, I'm going to buy the actual K&N intake kit when I can.
